Maybe you're doing lucky dip - transfer £10m and hope you get a decent player?

Maybe to replace Djourou/Squillacci as #4 if they go, because we will be very light at CB after our first 3, particularly without Song able to cover like he used to. But if it is that, then it isn't the big signing that people are hoping for.

Might be Younes Belhanda but we have a lot of midfield strength and Gnabry/Eisfeld knocking on the door. I could see us picking up a versatile attacking player, but I can't help feeling that it is the Arteta position we need to upgrade. He is doing OK but I would like to have someone stronger defensively and a bit more dynamic playing there. I am not convinced by Coquelin or Frimpong, and Arteta looks to me like a man playing his last season. He just can't get any slower and still be at a top 4 club.

If Djourou and Squillaci are leaving it would suggest that we're in for a CB. Miquel looks like he might become a really good CB, but I don't think we can rely on him to come in at the top level and hit the ground running just yet.

Why does he look that way to you? Or is it just your usual script for our 'youngsters'? I've seen him play against really poor sides and he's looked completely outmatched against everyone I've seen him against.

He shows even less promise than Coquelin showed when he appeared in public view.

It could of course be a case of performance anxiety, and he's good in training but nowhere has he "looked like" making it. This season he will have featured in fewer cup games as well, so not exactly a vote of confidence from Arsene.

And what exactly is my 'usual script for youngsters' ?

Why does it look that way to me ? That's because when I've seen him play at CB, he looks composed on the ball, gets his head up, reads the game well and never looks rushed or panicking. He's a ball playing CB, a technical player as opposed to a blood and guts hoof it type of CB. Maybe you're mistaking the games where he's played at LB, where for me he doesn't look anywhere near as good, otherwise I would have to completely disagree with your assessment.

No, based on what you just said we must be judging two completely different players. Or you get to see him in training or behind closed doors.

I think Miquel is still recovering from that Reading game. Poor bastard had to be carried off in the end. He might be a decent CB, but he sure as hell ain't no full back.

    In: M'biwa, M'villa
    Sign new contract: Walcott
Out: Djourou, Squillaci + one of or both chamakh/arshavin

Would you be happy with that? For me it leaves us a little light up top so i'd want another striker (villa preferably) and/or a skillfull wide player who can play midfield e.g. isco.

I'm not thrilled with either M'biwa, M'villa , I just cant see M'biwa's credentials to play in England. Nothing in his past seems to indicate that he is going to make the step up. M'villa's stock has dropped a lot, and Wenger may be willing to take a chance on him, but he isn't the dynamic DM type, every video I see of him, he reminds of Denilson, calm and reasonably solid, but slows the game down a lot.

I just want someone who has some pace to beat people and come forward out of the back when we need a bit of impetus.

We need someone who can sit in front of the back four and break up play.

    <yikes>

I always found no similarities when people compared Diaby with Viera, as he is quite a bit less physical and much more technically gifted than Viera. But M'Villa's attributes are actually quite comparable to Viera, I don't think you've seen much of him play if you've seen similarities to Denilson. He is a very direct player.

If Chamakh goes and Villa comes in that would be an amazing upgrade to the squad.
