is EE on the Orange network? or on all Networks? iv seen EE shops about

is it basically the new and improved 3G

yeah, it's called 4G but OLM's fallen for the clever EE network (T-Mobile & Orange combined) marketing idea to add the EE on the end. A few of my mates have it and say it's good but hardly as impressive as Kev Bacon wants us to believe.

I have a theory that once everyone moves onto 4g that 3G will be faster then it currently is because it will have less traffic

I don't know about 'super fast' but it's 'super expensive'......£66 a month for 8gb usage.

The phone companies have to push things like 4G pretty hard, because at the moment we are all paying them £30 a month (or w/e) for things we can do for free on a free app.

Everything Everywhere (EE) is the parent company of both Orange and T-Mobile.

They underwent a rebrand as part of the 4g launch. 4G was supposed to be launched as part of the sell off of the old terrestrial tv spectrum but EE had been spending about £1.5m per day for the best part of a year to upgrade their own networks so that they could launch early to get a jump on the competition. They are also going to bid on the OFCOM auction.

Contracts are quite expensive and you have to have a 4g enabled phone to get it but expect the prices to drop a bit when the other players join the game.

Supposedly EE may have an exclusive on the Iphone 4 as when apple where developing the phone EE spoke to them and it was enabled to work immediately on their spectrum but no other so for a while at least you'll only be able to get 4g on the Iphone 4 if you're with EE.

Cheers, im on Orange and my Galaxy 3 has been saying EE, but im not paying for it, so it must be ready if i decide too

Im happy with 3G though, dont need fast browsing at the moment

I think you misunderstand Orange has changed it name to EE that’s why it shows on your phone , the new 4g is also called EE and you will need a phone capable of 4g, at the moment Orange/EE are the only network using it and then only in limited areas Hull being one

I've just checked on their website and it doesn't currently work at my home address or my office address, so it's not something that going to be a lot of use to me for a while.

ah right understand now, thanks

T-Mobile, Orange and EE are all just brand names for the same company, they're now the biggest mobile phone provider in the UK and the company is 50% French and 50% German. <doh>

Yeah I know, I was just making the point that it's not just Orange.

With it being 50% French and 50% German I suppose that means that half of the time it will be on strike, and the other half really efficient?

I don't get the big fluff about 4G, I hardly get 3G most of the time.

Maybe that's the point.

Surely they are the places you don't need it, because you'll have wifi there anyway?

The only time I'd like to have 4G is when I'm at away games and want to post on here about how livid I am with the latest refereeing decision, it's a bugger to get signal in those places and my phone is incredibly slow for browsing the web.
