    I'd agree.

May well be that on the basis I don't see us offering him a deal, he's not allowed to go in January as we may as well have him as an option.

Tell you what though, maybe having Connor Whickham on loan could work for you, he's doing great for ressies etc but MON doesn't seem to fancy the lad yet, despite positive praise.

Him helping a side to promotion could be massive for his confidence, and we'd all benefit.

Actually we can afford the time for him to shrug off his ring rustiness, none of our other strikers are hitting the net regularly so adding him to the list won't make any difference. Also David Meyler has got better and better with us so if we see quality, we are prepared to be patient. .

Truth about Campbell is he should have stayed with us when we were promoted to the Prem last time. As you have suggested, that would have been by far the best progression of his career and would probably have gone on to be a lot more successful, not necessarily with us, but maybe with another club after a season or so of top flite experience. Instead a combination of him being used as a political porn and his father's ill-advice, led him down another path.

It would take me a lot to cheer him again but signing him once more woul surely benefit the club.

Yeah, being farmed out to Spurs was utterly pointless for the lad, he came to us and looked willing if not great, Bruce used him as a kinda right attacking midfielder for a while, and he was very good, then when he got a run up top he scored a few goals in a run and started to really look the part with Bent pre injury.

It was so innocuous the injury as well, almost identical to Meylers, a twist, but you could see instantly it was a bad one.

The lad is so determined that I'm convinced he will get back to standard, he's not too old, and he's never looked as if the injury has hampered him as such, more that he's never had the chance of a run of games.

The fact that he's had 13 appearances, albeit not starts, shows that MON feels he is worthy of consideration, I'd love to see the lad move to a decent Championship club, and get back to the Premier and make a mark.

I've seen you lads a lot, and the way you play could work for a quick off the shoulder player like Frazier, he's always looked good with the one touch stuff as well, so on that basis he suits your style of play this season.

I guess it's up to Bruce, but I do think if you offered 750k or thereabouts, we'd do a deal. Can't see a loan which is in effect a free transfer.

There's been a rumour that's been doing the rounds for a couple of weeks now, that we've offered £600k.

That would most likely be enough given his contract situation.

Think we already all want you to get up, with Meyler & Elmo (less so McShane...), with Frazier you'd be many of our second team for a while.

We all love the lad, just the way things have gone have ruined it for him at Sunderland, never been a question about his loyalty or effort.

Campbell's just come on for Sunderland at half time away at Liverpool. Still seems like O'Neil fancies him. I think we may be relying on them signing a striker or two themselves before we can get our man. If that's the case maybe we should turn our attention elsewhere as ideally I'd like us to have signed a striker before the Wednesday game.

MOisn't renowned for making moves early on from what I can recall of him, always seems to be waiting for the best timing which is normally at the back end of the window.

Or he's playing him, hoping he scores a goal - and he can add another few hundred grand to the fee....

I don't think he's in any position to do that, with Sunderland only 4 points above the drop zone. He must see more in him that Wickham or McFadden who are both on the bench, or Sessegnon who came off (unless it was a forced substitution). Doesn't seem to have worked mind, they've gone 3-0 down, not that that'd be Campbell's fault.

Fraizer Campbell keen on Hull City talks: Sunderland striker 'would have big impact' on promotion push

    .

    Thursday, January 03, 2013

    Hull Daily Mail
    Follow.

FRAIZER Campbell would be happy to make a return to Hull City and help a second push for the Premier League – if Sunderland agree to let him go.

Campbell’s father Keith, who looks after all deals for his 25-year-old son, has told the Mail the Tigers interest is something he is ‘definitely interested’ in.

Interested: Fraizer Campbell in England colours

    .
The Black Cats striker has been monitoring City’s progress closely this season, talking regularly about their prospects with Sunderland team-mate David Meyler – who is set to seal a £1.5m permanent deal at the KC himself this week.

Now, the Campbells are awaiting clarification from Sunderland over his future – and then possible talks with the Tigers.

“Fraizer is aware of what Steve Bruce has said about being interested in signing him and he would definitely be interested in coming back to Hull,” Mr Campbell told the Mail.

“He is very impressed with the way they play and feels he would fit. He is also a big fan of Steve Bruce.

“The problem is it is difficult at present, as there has not been any approach as of yet that Sunderland have told us about.

“Martin O’Neill has not given any indication as to what may be going on, and he will be the key to whatever happens this month.

“He hasn’t been playing Fraizer as much as we would like, and he brought in Steven Fletcher, but he’s not saying anything about letting him go either. We will have to see what happens.”

Tigers boss Bruce has made no secret of the fact he is desperate to add more fire power to his frontline during this month’s transfer window, and that Campbell is his top target.

He negotiated the deal with Campbell’s father in 2009 that saw Sunderland snare the striker from under the Tigers’ noses, in a deal worth £6m.

Campbell’s father says he has a good relationship with Bruce, and adds that should City be allowed to open talks, dropping down a division should not be a problem given City’s current prospects of promotion back to the Premier League.

“We hear there may be interest from another club also, but Fraizer would not be too concerned about dropping into the Championship with Hull because we would be confident he would have a big impact on their promotion push,” he said.

“When he joined Hull before they were just above the relegation places, and his goals helped them to promotion.

“Now, he is a far better player, and he would be confident that he would have a big impact on Hull’s team, especially given how they are playing.

“Fraizer is out of contract in the summer, so that is a factor that will come into play, but for now it’s something that lies at Martin O’Neill’s door.”

Campbell secured himself hero status when inspiring City to promotion through the Championship play-offs when on loan in 2007-08, scoring 15 goals in 34

    appearances.

His career at the Stadium of Light has been hampered by two long-term cruciate knee ligament injuries, but despite this he earned his first full England call-up last February, under interim manager Stuart Pearce.

He has been limited to appearances off the bench this season, but recently scored his first goal in 10 months in the 3-1 loss to Manchester United.

It's very good news - with him up front we score more goals, win more games and get promoted. Simples.
