Aye I noted that, bit shameful really with only one making double figures. Even allowing for the generous conditions and pitches over there its very poor. We tour New Zealand soon
Kallis passing 13,000 runs as well... Where does he come in the list of greatest modern batsmen? Tendulkar, Lara, Ponting, Dravid, Jayawardene etc?
Really??? Sobers, Botham, Dev, Hadlee, Khan??? I'd say Kallis is the best batting all-rounder of them, but I'd say he's not as good a bowler as them.
Perch finds a fiver and hands it in... true gent. http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/j...e-to-the-crowd-during-newcastle-1-everton-2/?
Used to see Gary Sobers a lot when I was in London, he used to like his betting. I'd put him up there as the best all-rounder. Met him when I was in Barbados and was invited to a party at David Holford's (his nephew) house where he was also a guest. Both nice guys and Holfords wife was a bit of alright too.
Some of my happiest memories as a young child were watching the West Indies play at the Oval ... What a fantastically noisy crowd ..... Unheard of at cricket matches in them days. .... Loved Sir Garfield & Clive Lloyd
First visit to the Oval was for a sell out game against the Windies and we were sitting on cushions around the boundary. Every time the Windies scored a boundary or took a wicket all the cushions went flying up into the air and landed just anywhere. Not quite the sedate atmosphere I'd been used to at cricket matches.
Poor old Ken Barrington was a target for all the quickies who didn't seem to like his defensive die hard attitude and bombarded him with bouncers.
Have to say I agree with Cbrad, Kallis is the best all rounder of all time. Genuine threat with the ball, particularly early in his career, and top class batsmen who ranks in the top echelon of batsman to have played the game for me. The numbers certainly suggest he is the best.
This is important too though. What kind of all rounder you are. Look at Sanagkara before he hung up his gloves or Gilchrist. Then you have Beefy, Hadley with the ball and then the batter like Kallis. I just think Kallis all things considered is the best.
Didn't notice girls in those days, thought they were just cissies that didn't play football or cricket. Obviously didn't know you then. Often saw Peter West and Johnners on the escalators on the Underground on the way to the games.
