I just wonder if he'll be back a bit sooner. Rodolph Austin at Leeds had a double leg break in Ocotober and is already back.
As much as I miss Matty his injury comes down to a lack of foresight. He knew he was carrying an injury before the Rovverham game but he was so keen to play and impress the new boss he kept it to himself and as a result played not only 90 mins but into extra time. As a result a month long layoff became a 9 month one. I suppose I admire his willingness to play but sometimes you have to see the bigger picture.
We could say the same for quite a few players this season though - How many times has Bruce played on when he's been injured? Should Elmo have come off earlier in the Leeds game? If Fryatt could withstand the Rotherham game, perhaps it seemed he would be okay? Hindsight and all that.
Austin never had a double leg break, that was just Colin talking bollocks to divert attention from the 6-1 tonking they'd just suffered. It was a hairline fracture of one bone.
A season out and straight into the Prem (hopefully!) Will he cut it at that level? I'm not too sure. Hoping to be proved wrong.
Harsh, but if he can be shifted on for a decent fee and make way for more of SB's targets than I tend to agree
He won't be going anywhere until he's back to full fitness. The most likely out come is that he is loaned out with a view to a permanent at the start of next season.
His contract is up at the end of next season, so unless we give him a new one a loan would effectively be a permanent.
No chance of us bottling it lads New manager, new team. Amazing how many fans forget that. If it were DJ I'd be waiting for the inevitable fall. This season? Not happening. Your situation with Fryatt sounds exactly like us with Nicky Maynard. Would be banging them in if fit, but he's out for the season.
Not convinced about Fryatt banging them in, but that's old ground and very much an opinion thing - although to say he was short of chances last season is utter bollocks; everyone was crying out for them to be converted, game after, game after game and then he had his purple patch. I would love to see him in B&A again, as when he is good, he is very good and would make our team balanced in all aspects. Until he is fit we need someone else and he ain't currently in our dressing room.
....and then you marry one.!!! We need to forget about Fryatt. He is done for the season sadly but yes i think we would be at least 4 wins better off with Fryatt in this team.!!!
Fryatt wont be going anywhere anytime soon. Steve Bruce will want to see if he can handle the PL first and then IF not then he will be loaned out / sold. Far to easy just to write players off without anything of substance being known. Dont be too sure. Your recent fastive wins over Birmingham, Millwall, Palace and Lesta have been close and very lucky wins. A long way to go yet. 20 games = 60 points. If you are still 7 pts clear with 4 games left then just maybe there will be singing in the Valleys in May.
I doubt it. No one's going to come in for him and he's got at least another year on his deal so I'm almost certain he'll be here at the start of next season.
I'm pretty confident. The wins over Millwall and Palace were certainly not lucky. More dogged and determined performances from the likes of Bellamy, Gunnarson and Hudson. Amazing how often 'luck' gets mentioned when you're at the top.
