I concur with Kate, you don't have to be old not to have gone on the pitch. I am 32 and sit in the Northam. There were quite a few still in block 42 well into the invasion.....some of them even season ticket holders

Fine you got me, I instigated it myself, I was actually the one that ran on before kickoff.

What point are you trying to get across here?

hey is that a new nick name I got there!!!!...........Coffin dodger..........<laugh>........It can't be me though.....in the first place I don't sit in the Kingsland........Channon recons it would take half a match to get me onto the pitch.......I told him he was incorrect and that I wasn't racin for anyone.......... So dodging coffins is also out of the question..............<laugh>

I wish to retract my earlier, rather disrespectful assertion that you would take half a match to reach the front. No, I think on balance that you might have to divert to the toilets anyway on the way down and by the time you had done that, would probably have forgotten why you set off in the first place. <laugh>

OK time to confess, I am a steward at the holy of holies and it was pretty much accepted as inevitable that there would be an invasion.

The view was taken that provided the results went right(Saints promoted and Walsall stay up) there should be no issue with the fans and that after what we as Saints fans have gone through since 2003 it was understandable that the celebrations would be massive.

Stewards and police were all instructed that in the event of a mass invasion they should make no attempt to stop the fans but should concentrate on the safety of everyone (especially the players).

In the past announcements have been made to clear the pitch to allow the lap of honour, the problem these days is that the players like to bring their wives and kids out onto the pitch with them and if you remember the last time fans were asked to clear the pitch we still had as many fans crowding back onto the pitch as the lap of honour progressed as there were in the first place and a lot of thesmaller kids were pretty spooked - this is why the players went up into the stand rather than any attempt being made to clear the pitch.

The atmosphere was brilliant and although the club will be required to report to the FA over the pitch invasion the hope is that there will be no significant punishment dished out as there was clearly no trouble.

Thankfully the Club got it absolutely right, there was little chance of trouble provided the approach by the stewards and Police was sensible, they all should be given the credit for keeping everyone safe and it resulted in one of the best days in many peoples lives, hope the League take a reasonable view on this occasion. You cannot deny it was spectacular to watch the impromptu event unfolding, it has been a long time coming. Give me more, soon.

To be fair Channon it isn't forgetting where I was going that is the problem.........It's remembering how to get back to where I started in the first place............Then when I eventually get back to where I've started from......it's taken me so long to get back...... I need the toilet again..........So the cycle of life resumes. <laugh>
