Nice that there was a runners up trophy, because it used to be the Champions got one and so did the winner of the play-offs but not 2nd place.

To be fair -Dan..... it was not the pitch invasion that caused me to reply to your post. It was more your attitude towards those that clearly opposed that invasion. I quote "Blah blah blah not allowed on the pitch against the clubs wishes yadda yadda who gives a f*ck". It is hardly an endearing reply to someones opinion. You are right it was hardly surprising that there was an invasion. Would I be sparing sympathy for someone who missed out on getting on. The short answer would be yes If that was the way things were normally done or was official. In the same way I would have expected a bit of Sympathy for those that traveled a couple of hundred miles to see the players do a lap of honour with the trophy. Which because of the invasion they were unable to see. For me it works both ways.......
Was that the groundsmen I could hear quietly crying in the background If all those fans on the pitch get banned SMS will be quite empty next year.
I accept that, and apologise while blaming in some part the alcohol from last night's celebrations!! In which case fair enough, I've already stated I wish that having been on the pitch there was an announcement to clear so that there could be a lap of honour and everybody would go home happy, but it didn't play out that way. It is a shame that the people not wishing to go on the pitch didn't get the same level of celebration, but it shouldn't be a reason for a spoiled day at all!
Couldn't and wouldn't of wanted anything more than that Dan......As I said I can only speak for myself it didn't particularly spoil my day.....I just felt for those that traveled a long distance to see the players, wives and trophies being paraded. Next year maybe I'll be the first out there.....then you watch every other bugger will stay in the stand......

Beddy, you had better set off at half time. By the time you arrive you might be one of the first on at full time! . I note that nobody has yet had any comment about the less mobile or very young children who lost out and would have seen nothing. Ah well. Time to leave for St Marys. Hope I get to see something today. What I would really like to see is LeTiss. Doubtful, but would cap a great season.
I was down the pub by the time you had posted this The Chapel I think they call it now. (Used to be called the Letisser as far as I can recall) Had just a couple no more but they went down well. As for me having to set off at half time to get there full time. You were thinking of yourself now why don't you admit it.......mind you as you sit in the itchen you would of had a distinct advantage over me. Someone would of actually woken you up to tell you to run on. Not me they wouldn't have bothered.......
Us oldies have to be careful not to get our blanket stuck round our feet. There would be bovril and dentures everywhere.

In deed there are those that actually say it is the food of life.........For me it is exactly what I want, as I love food....and I certainly love life!!!..........
There is a fantastic video on You Tube (link from, whisper it, bbc606 forum) that shows the pitch from behind the players in the gantry. 10 Min of singing and some close shots of the players and family. I should have pulled a sickie and gone, but I think my boss would have been suspicious. Wonderful, wonderful day...won't be bettered till we go to Premiership.
Once it was obvious the pitch wasn't going to be cleared for a lap of honour I joined everyone there. The condition of the pitch just goes to show how technology has moved on in the last 30 years. I remember the days when there would be little grass left on a pitch after a long hard season on it. It was immaculate. Anyway I digress. Wonderful atmosphere, fabulous day to be remembered for years to come. Half the job is complete now. Same again next year.
That's fine for people that live in the area but travelling down to Southampton two days in a row (or staying overnight somewhere) is too expensive
