From page #1 of the thread.

I'm not sure why it's taken 1O pages for you to realise that I was laughing at it from the off. But it was funny seeing you claim that I was wound up whilst all the time you were all getting your own knickers in a twist

That is the ultimate HAIG wum here, well done HIAG <applause>

He is the gift that keeps on giving and he must have been in a generous mood because
it's Christmas !!!

Merry Christmas to you all <cracker>

Yeah, right <laugh> you keep telling yourself that, I'm sure you can convince yourself. Convincing us? No chance, mate. Have a good one.

<laugh> Well, there may be no convincing the entrenched, but I'm stuffed to the gunnels with Turkey, Champagne and Chocolate torte and I'm still not wound up

Hic <bubbly>

All the best to you all <cracker>

...and we're back in the top 4, with Arsenal back down to 7th.

The power continues to shift <ok>

Opting not to play might cost Arsenal, they'd most likely be sitting 4th had they played today. Now they'll have 2 London derbies to play in a matter of days and it gives Chelsea a significant advantage

At the moment we are closer to City than you are to us (bar a shock home defeat to Southampton). It woke surely make sense for us to beat Arsenal?

Maths not your strong point, DL? You're 4 points behind City and we're only 2 behind you. You don't automatically win games in hand, you know?

Also, DL, I am making the point that I believe we have a good chance of finishing ahead of both you and Arsenal, so it would not be in our interests for either team to win that match <ok>

so you are saying we should accept that you will finish above us..therefore give up trying to claw back a gigantic 2 point lead?

North London Powershift <laugh> Classic.

What will it be next time you are chasing arsenal

We've not been behind Arsenal for long at any point this season. I disagree that it's a power shift though, shifts happen very quickly, like how Liverpool shifted from being a top 4 side to a midtable side. The gap between the North London sides has been closing for a few seasons now, whether Arsenal finish above us or we finish above them unless it's by 10+ points there'll be no real shift in power as both sides will show they're closely match, which they have been for a few years. Merseyside is where you want to go to see a powershift.

Yes. Quit whilst you are ahead and throw in the towel. And whilst your at it give us the 3 points when you come to Stamford Bridge. That sounds like a deal to me <cheers>

On a serious note though I'm not ruling out Spurs catching us but if you believe you can then why stop at us? If we were to win our game in hand we would only be 1 point behind City. January is our toughest month so if we can come out if it in the top 3 I can't see us not finishing there.

Chelsea ALWAYS do better in the 2nd half of the season. It's been that way since Abramovich arrived. Before then we always flattered to deceive. We'd often start off brilliantly but then fade away around this time now. Change in mentality <ok>

The only place where there has been a significant power shift is Manchester. City now have the better players, better stadium, more financial muscle and are currently the more successful having won the PL title (beating United 6-1 on their own patch to do so) and FA Cup (again, beating United in the semi to do so) in the last two seasons.

Even in the clash between the two this season it was clear City were the better side and United were simply reduced to counter attacking and dictating the style and tempo of the game as they used to do when they had a midfield.

nobody said Spurs would stop at you...small steps. surely you understand football? or are you like Brenda and his midtable outfit who he said are going for 2nd...believe it or not but we have a realistic perspective.

As for you being a shoe in for doing better in the second half......lets see.

Easy there Dona, you are a feisty one <laugh>

We'll have to see as you say but we always do better after Christmas.

City won the title with the last kick of the season pipping Utd on goal difference only. Utd surrendered an 8 point lead in the last 4 matches. City have lost twice to Utd on their home patch this year and trail by 7 points in the league. Power shift? Not on the stats, DL.
