Im sure this guy has a screw loose in some games... his Substitutions carry on baffling me even more so after Saturdays debacle

Why would you bring on Mcshane for Chester ? and then take Amoo who happened to be the only decent looking player on the pitch off ? :emoticon-0149-no:

Well I trust Nigel's judgment. Firstly, Chester is not a right back, it is patently obviously that is not his best position. He made couple of decent interceptions from there but the first two goals came from that side. With Amoo being taken off who knows, all I know is that our midfield was being easily over-run and something needed to be done. We need Ian Ashbee 2 in there, a real ball winner and communicator. If NP brings in someone like that, then I think that they should be made captain also.

Because he is in the REAL football world and is privy to information that we don't have.
He is a professional Football Club Manager whilst we are only 'pipe dreamers' who have Football Manager experience only.
Maybe that was the plan from the off as decided by Nigel and his staff. Maybe there were injuries involved. Who knows.
The fact is that whereas we can voice our opinions on Message Boards we are simply not qualified to run a Football Club.

I agree with you, but I don't think that is the issue here.

There has been many a good manager that has failed at Clubs, not because they haven't been doing a good job at a club, but because they have not been perceived as doing so by the fans.

It's very important that a Manager ensures the fans understand the reasoning behind their decisions, that way even if they fail, the fans are less likely to put pressure on him. Once a manager loses the fans it's a downward spiral. The same principle applies with the "Boo-Boys" once a player becomes the focus of ridicule, no matter how well he plays he always remains the butt of the fans jokes. Ian Ashbee was supposed not to be able to make "The StepUp" in every division he played in above the bottom tier, but he succeeded right up to the Premiership.

I prefer to set my "realistic" expectations and judge a manager on results only, no matter what seemingly unfathomable decisions he makes. I also care about style and value for money, but I would never go as far as to make a BIG issue out of micro-decisionmaking. However, most seem to jump on bandwagons so NP needs to make sure he makes the fans aware of the reasons behind his decisions otherwise, rightly or wrongly, he might find himself on a downward spiral.

I also agree, but as an addendum to what you said in your second and third paragraphs, there also have been managers who have "talked the talk" but couldn't "walk the walk",, and have been able to get away with it for large periods of time, at both club and country levels, over the years!!
But apart from that addition(IMO), you put the point across extremely well :emoticon-0105-wink::emoticon-0148-yes::emoticon-0103-cool:

It's the curse of Hull City sends all managers loopy after a while it seems. Who can think of the worse substitution ever?

Didn't Simon Walton replace his great looking missus with someone who resembled a bag of spanners?

No, she had fabulous tits and it made him THINK of spanners because every time he looked at them - his nuts tightened!

id like to know why simpson has looked our most sharpest forward for weeks, yet he is put on the left wing, the right wing, in goal and pretty much anywhere but up front...

4-3-3 does not work with the players we're using. It's not supposed to involve 3 centre forwards, like McLean, Fryatt and Simpson. Needs to be more like Stewart, Fryatt and Garcia (One centre forward with two players capable of finding the net at the same time as wing play)

I probably won't get the best reaction for this but Fryatt and Pearson being so far up each others arses could really cause problems. I'm not saying drop Fryatt but if he's performing badly it should at least be a possibility that he be substituted. As far as I know, Fryatt has not once been brought off, despite several occasions where he's done absolutely **** all, whilst Simpson has looked good, but been brought off instead.

I know he's our top scorer and has been a terrific signing but it shouldn't make him immune to substitution, especially considering his inconsistency.

I don't think Fryatt is anything like Koren in that way. I'm not just being conformist here but I really think he's very consistent and when were **** he always seems to be still moving and living in the false hope he might get some service.

Agree about Simpson though, he's been way better since christmas. I'd be happy to see him and Fryatt up front next season, although I still want to see a target man as an option.

Was one of those occasions the Blackburn game at home in 2008/09 when the crowd jeered the substitution and Geo overtly showed his discontent about it to Brownie?

Was that the time near the end of Brownies era when the whole stadium chanted ''You don know what you're doing'' ?
