I dont think Ramsey is rubbish , but i dont think he is anywhere near good enough for us.

Ive seen far too many bad , and REALLY bad , passes .

and when he shoots..........Look out Sergio Ramos , you got competition .

He was a mixed bag tonight, some misplaced passes, slow tracking back and that air shot <laugh>

But he worked hard for the goal, so he deserves some credit.

I don't remember him doing anything for the goal. Gerv set it up, Rosicky finished it. If giving moral support counts as an assist, then football really is changing.
 
Oh, Aaron. *sigh*

I been trying to defend the guy for about two years now. But even I am losing hope. He just keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
 
Today's performance summed up Ramsey perfectly.

In the first chance he had an excellent chance to put us ahead, but instead he fluff's his shot.

In the second half, the ball comes off him, and straight into the opposing player, who scores.

That's Ramsey for you.

He was unlucky for the 2nd goal and I doubt if Theo or Giroud or Jack had had that happen you'd be blaming them. He also made a good pass to Arshavin who should have capitalized.

The thing is people usually always focus on what he did wrpng nowadays and forget what he did right too.
Is there room for improvement? Yes. Does he still have time to improve? Yes. Do I think he'll still become a class player? Yes.

He did well cutting in from the right beating 2 defenders to pass to Gervinho.
 
Or, he thinks he is still the same player he was before he got assaulted, and thus has failed to adapt his game accordingly.

I don't really see that. Yes he tries some flicks but honestly I can't get this egotistical vibe from him. If anything he seems low on confidence, which considering the fact ypthat he's everyone's favorite scapegoat isn't surprising, which seems to make him less likely to act on good situations in fear of ****ing up and being booed or ridiculed.
Also read on Twitter that some idiots sent him death threats. That is going too far.

It's far too risky to play him as a CM. Playing him as a winger is a waste of a player. You might as well start with 10 men. His only possible position is as an AM, but I'd rather have Cazorla, Wilshere, Arshavin, Podolski, or even Arteta in that position before him.

This echos the views I have expressed about young Ramsey.

However, I thin k he has been unlucky in that he is no longer surrounded by top quality players off theback of whom he can grow. He has had to step up, and wit hthe injury and all, has found it a step too far. The premature appointing of him as Welsh Captain hasn't helped him either. These mitigations though do not on balance cause me to label Ramsey as a good prospect any longer.

I don't mind him sticking around but it annoys me that he is an automatioc choicve when I do not think his performances have warranted it.
 
Aaron is a class player and a brilliant lad heaping abuse on him is not helping and maybe a player like tote or mbia would help him better than cazorla IMO
 
The whole team were poor bar Szszesny, Vermaelen and Rosicky.

Gervinho should be particularly castigated for being appalling. I don't think I've ever seen an attacker who has such little strength, barely any skill, almost no control the ball, no vision, poor passing and absolutely no shooting technique.

Chamakh also made me laugh at one point in the first half when he won the ball, controlled it well then laid it off two feet away... straight to an opponent.

You have to question Arsenal's current scouting team in France...

True while Ramsey was bad last night he was by no means the flop of the game - that accolade goes to Gervinho - who i was waiting to be convinced by and he just gets worse. TBF the entire team was poor bar Rosicky, Wos and TV plus Jenk played ok rest were Kack.
 
Ramsey isn't a very bad player but we have to ask ourselves 'is he good enough to play for arsenal?' Sorry but for me the answer is no. He has had a season and a half of considerable involvement in the team and has not shown enough to justify his place in the squad. This can be said for a number of our players. I remember people saying 'let's see how Jack performs after a year out before we start judging Ramsey', well Jack is back and he's already shown a lot more skill, quality passing and overall guile and imagination than Ramsey has. The reason for this? Quality. You've either got it or you haven't. Ramsey hasn't. We should show him the door, kick him through and fill his place in the squad with a top quality player.
 
We've now got too many players like Parlour, Edu and Wiltord and not enough like Vieira, Bergkamp and Henry. Parlour, Edu and Wiltord did a job and looked good in a team that had some classier players in it, but if they were the best players in our team back then we wouldn't have achieved a lot.

Ramsay should be a squad player kept on the bench for emergencies, and never relied on to be a top player who we need to rely on to win us games.
 
All Arsenal fans are disappointed when a player with great potential doesn't work out and especially when the cause was such a horrific incident.

However Ramsey has had more than enough game time to have the chance to recapture his early promise and sadly has failed to find it.

I think my mine gripe is that he "seems" lazy, he can't do the simple things right and seems more concerned with the flashy options (long range shots that go horribly wide). When playing in midfield you have to be disciplined to keep possession and win it back and he's obviously not got that.

1. As even those who have defended him have said he gives away possession incredibly cheaply and often in a very harmful position to the team (re-watch the Everton away game!!) There's no real excuse for that...maybe the first 6 months getting used to the speed of the game but not 18 months later!!
2. Despite having a good engine on him he rarely seems to bust a gut to get back and help defend (even when it's his fault) watch early games last season and you'll see him barely break a sweat to come back and help the defence...at most he lightly jogs back.
3. Continuing from #2 he always seems to be searching that glory long range strike and although we do need that more in the team his conversion ratio is poor and it means he's often caught out of position. He's often as advanced as our centre forward. I could understand more if he was rarely given a chance to play and was overly eager to impress but he often retains his position in the team despite such woeful performances

Genuinely gutted it hasn't worked out for him, i remember being really impressed with him a few weeks before the leg break in Feb 2010 when we played West Ham away and with him and Jack in the same team you saw an incredibly bright future for the club. He was a driving force in that game and I've honestly never seen him recapture any where near that same level in the 18 months he's been back
 
Ramsey is an OK player who probably would be a starter at Wigan or Reading or even Fulham. He is not bad. A simpler mid-table football would suit him much better.
