Who do you consider to be the better manager?

Having looked at their recent form, it would obviously favour Chris - looking at their management records, i'm thinking it's pretty level.

To be honest, I never wanted Hughton to be sacked... it never even crossed my mind that he would be.
Pardew was brought in as the "experienced manager", but did Chris Hughton ever lose 4 games on the bounce as Toon boss?

Your thoughts please ladies & gentlemen... <cool>

Both capable manager's on their day, but both "too British" for me, In that I think they can both be very stubborn and stick to the traditional English style of play if you like.

I'd go for Hughton purely because he's an absolute gent, but there really is very little between the two.

How about you mate? You got a preference?

Hughton may not have lost 4 in a row but did he ever get us winning 6 in a row like last season?

I was very angry about Chris Hughton's sacking and never wanted him to go.
Obviously we all know the incredible season we had last year under Pardew and it seemed to almost justify the decision - however, it does start to look like a bit of a flash-in-the-pan and Hughton appears to be going from strength to strength.

He did an amazing job in his spell at Birmingham City and it came as no surprise when Norwich City came swooping for him <ok>

I actually think sacking Hughton was almost as criminal as the sacking of SBR <grr>

    Short answer: Chris Hughton <cool>

Not in the Premier League, no. Then again, was he ever really given the time?

Was Hughton ever backed by the board?

I really don't believe he was.

Have any of our managers ever been truly back by the current board (in terms of player recruitment) <laugh>

Yeah but he bought genuine quality in terms of Cacapa, Rozenhal, Geremi, & Viduka :bandit:

Chris Hughton is an average manager and a great man, where as Alan Pardew is an awful manager and a slimebag.

I wouldn't agree that Hughton is average - when you look at how he won the Championship Title with us in his first full season as a manager, managed to balance a European campaign and a promotion challenge at Birmingham and now has had to follow Paul Lambert at Norwich, I would suggest he is far from average.

Very harsh for me mate and slightly disrespectful.

I'm not Pardew's biggest fan, I think he's lost his way with us and is struggling to get a grip on things. I think he's mismanaged the team this year and don't think he's the man for us long term.

I don't agree that he's an awful manager though, and to call him a slime bag given his service to the club is over the top for me...each to their own though.

Don't think we would've seen the 4-4 against Arsenal had Hughton been in charge.

I think it's unlikely we'll see a 5-1 smashing of Sunderland whilst Pardew is in charge. <ok>

What is it you prefer about Pards?

It's quite a difference in experience between them - Pardew managed Reading back in 1999 while Hughton's first full-time management job was with us in 2009! <yikes>

I don't think Pardew appears to have the benefit of an extra 10 years management experience?

You can't get much better quality than that can you?

    Oh, wait a minute.

As regards, CH or Pards, I'm afraid it's CH for me everyday. He got a very bad deal and deserved much better.

Cacapa was a great defender, a little slow but a fantastic centre half.

both long term are equally useless!!! we need a manager of higher quality to improve our coaching and style of play, however if I was chosing I'd take Hughton as he will keep you consistant.
