    Both were parachuted in amongst a difficult atmosphere and sometimes vocal opposition. Chris was one of the temporary bosses in our relegation year, and was criticized heavily on all Toon forums when he was appointed caretaker for the championship season. He turned it around with results, and Pardew has essentially achieved the same thing, with his appointment equally as baffling. The only real difference is Chris never went backwards while he was with us, and Pardew is retreating like the ice-caps...

    In truth, Chris' managerial career speaks only of success under difficult circumstances, he's not suffered failure as yet. Pardew's record speaks of abject failure under pressure, with relegations and poor performance with well-paid stars, broken on occasion with a decent season. In my opinion, last year will be the pinnacle for this career.

    I'd pick Hughton, but it's impossible to know who's better.

    Chris Hughton, I think he was harshly sacked and if he was given the players by Carr that Patdew was, then he would have just been as successful.

    Or another way to look at it is, Hughton took you as far as he could, then Pardew took you to the next level?
