Well said. Hugo is the Boss alright, AVB is the clown, as I've been saying all along. And all those who backed AVB over this, wrong, wrong, wrong
Or Lloris has been given exactly the right amount of time to settle in and he's now ready for regular starts, which was reflected in his performance today and you're wrong.
As others have said - that was painful to watch. Aside from Lloris, the whole team played awful. Walker, again, was poor - particularly with his passing (he does enjoy bypassing the midfield and trying to pass straight to the striker - which is fine, but you have to make the pass - nearly every time he passed to a Lazio player). Sandro was below his best tonight but he's tired so I'm not as annoyed at him. Adebayor - who? He literally could've not played tonight and we would't have been able to tell the difference. Defoe & Lennon - I don't know about you guys but I expect an attacking sub to make some sort of impact. Dempsey & Sig - quickly approaching a David Bentley level of wasted money. Bale - 2 or 3 nice runs - then decided to disappear for 60 minutes. Delivery from corners is still atrocious. ---------------------- Remember how we used to play well for 1 half and then terrible for the other (up to a few weeks ago)? Now we play well for the first 10 minutes and then are terrible for the other 80. COYS
A good point considering we were so lucky. It is hard to warm to AVB with such crap football . It's like pulling your hair out. I feel his style of play doesn't get the best out of the players at his disposal . Ziggy , Dempsey are a complete waste of space. Central midfield is constantly so flat uncreative . I am not saying go backwards in time but I do miss our swagger , tempo and flair from the last few years. Entertainment this is not.
hugo done well because he was introduced to the team the right way,and not thrown in at the deep end,Sorry GH10 you are wrong AVB,and us who backed him are the result of his good display tonight
Is the penny finally dropping!, you do not program players like robots to do exactly what you say, never mind football, sport does not work like that. You endeavour to get the best from players best attributes. Forcing players to play to what is essentially their weak points, is just ridiculous. I said this from day one that Bale would suffer from this way of playing and we would rarely see one of his 50yd charges we loved and lets be honest, thats when he's at his devastating best. Playing a highline compresses the play into a small area, he doesn't get the room. A compressed area requires consistant exceptional touch and passing accuracy, I could name on one hand with fingers to spare our players that fit that criteria. This system will not work with this set of players...but what do I know!

I now the pitch didn't help but this has been the case for the past few games IMO. We are now saddly lacking the fluidity and swagger. I actually hate to see Spurs passing the ball sideways for what seems like 8/9 passes before losing the ball to the opposition. This is happening more and more., and its a by-product of the compressed system in which good players are opporating in. I'm also concerned that non of our lot seemed 'up for this game'. AVB....., time is running.
It was poor from Spurs although we should have won as we should at WHL if the officials actually stopped wiping out perfectly good goals. I think you have to take account the very poor pitch which made a passing game very difficult, with our players reluctant to make a pass over 3 yards. On the other hand although I thought we had the beating of this Lazio side their one strength was the way they closed us down all over the park. I noticed they used the long ball game to negate the poor surface and to be fair if they had a decent finisher could have taken the points. Very disappointing game looked like two park sides playing.
Should have mentioned our goalkeeper, whoever he is, who had a good game. Can't remember his name! No don't tell me it will come back to me.
Our lack of closing down was an area that annoyed me. We allowed them the complete run of the midfield and this allowed them to create chance after chance.
I think Notso has a valid point. I didn't see the whole game, but what from what I saw, it all looked desperately cramped and frantic. If you are going to deliberately limit the playing area by playing a high line, you need the players with the skills to operate in those tight areas.
Totally agree, very disappointed with us this season.I haven't seen anything to be happy with.Oh well lets all get behind the team and AVB.....Not passing judgement just yet.....Soon maybe. Looks like I'll be buying tickets for the last EL game.
