Sorry Mikey but I can't agree. The perspective on those screen grabs gives a misleading impression of how close the ball is to Collins and Boruc respectively. Boruc would have had to dive out from the goal towards the pitch of the ball, which would be highly unorthodox and in most situations, where players are attempting to head the ball, would be suicidal, both in terms of preventing a goal and personal safety!
He was already retreating towards the goal-line before the ball came in, which you can say is a mistake, but he's clearly decided he's not going to reach it.
That's fine mate we don't all have to agree on everything, that would be pretty dull. To clarify though, I'm not expecting him to reach the ball from the point at which the first picture shows, he would have no chance as the time between the two pictures is about a quarter of a second. That was just the first point that shows where he was standing as the free-kick was delivered as he had not moved from that position. It's just to show that from where he was standing as the free-kick came in, the ball bounced merely a yard away from that position, so in the entire two and half seconds the ball was in flight, he should have already been out and comfortably catching it. By the time the ball is in the position shown in the first picture, I believe he should already be moving towards the ball and almost already in mid air jumping to claim it.
But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter either way and it's just semantics. That one moment/mistake doesn't make Boruc a bad keeper, and the Swansea and QPR games don't make Gazza a bad keeper.
