Shameful red card

Colo's tackle was dangerous and could have caused serious damage (although suarez has it coming) and I suppose on those grounds it should be a red.

However..... can anyone explain to me how Colo's tackle on suarez is a straight red and a 3 game ban and suarez's tackle on distin JUST LAST WEEK was a yellow.

We lose our mose influencial player for 3 games liverpool none. The inconsistency and corrupt nature of the officiating is sickening.

As for the game, we defended well, sammy looked good, and probably would have won had suarez been serving the ban he should have been.
 
It was not dangerous. If you look again at the replay Colo did not follow through and actually made very little contact with Suarez who, unsurprisingly, made the most of it. A bloody disgrace.
 
It was a stupid tackle by Colo, he had no need to go in like that and will be missing for three games.

As for Suarez, he may be an excellent player (as can be seen by the quality of his goal today) but he is also a whinging, cheating, spineless turd. The amount of times he tried to get Krul booked over the taking of goal kicks was discraceful. He collected the ball that many times at goal kicks in order to speed up Krul (you can always tell the team that's losing) and at one stage started immediately waving his hands to try to get him booked. Mind, the Liverpool fans were also at it all game.

Colo shouldn't have left it up to the interpretation of the ref to being with. He's come in very late, looking like he's going to stamp on Suarez, and only just pulled out of serious contact. According to the rules as I know them, it's a red. I thought Tiote was unlucky to get a red against Sunderland, because there was zero intent, but that's not what Colo's looked like.
 
Oh **** off man he didnt get him!!!! I wish he hurt him a tad at least

sorry but I dont see any malice in what Colo was doing. I genuinely think it was lack of concentration and a late tackle. If Colo was going to take his frustration out on Suarez he would have connected alot harder than that. Certainly no intent. Colo isnt that type of player.
 
My thoughts are, that it was a red. My first reaction was that it seemed soft. But the various replays show it was a late and reckless challenge, which is most out of character for Colo.
On the whole, I think Colo had been rattled by Suarez, and had let his emotions get the better of him. Suarez was really dragging Colo all over the place, causing him to have one of his most under-par games for a long time. Suarez did make the most of it, but it's no surprise.

We'll miss Colo, and it's a big blow - but we just have to accept it and move on.
 
Didn't think it was a red tbh there was very little contact.

Be fair mate, Krul was taking ages with his goal kicks. He wasted at least a minute in stoppage time taking them. I don't get the little dig at Liverpool fans appealing for it, you see it at every home game?

I think Colo was pissed off by the fact he fairly tackled Suarez wide right in the area, then Suarez pushed him (both hands) off the ball and carried on to go round him and create a chance, with the ref letting play go. Happened a lot in the second half to us, that.

If that was a definite red you might as well do away with the game as a contact sport and play it like a game of netball. I'm sick to death of these refereeing decisions that have more to do with video games and pre-programmed rules than common sense. If Colo had really intended to hurt him he would have broken the scumbag's leg.

Maybe if Enrique and Agger didn't kick it out of play...

Krul wasted about 25 seconds per goal kick, about on the limit before the caution I think. All teams do this, so no biggy really.

There was no contact at all as far as his foot goes. If anything it's an insignificant barge, where Colo's hands then shoulder connect with Suarez's back &#8211; it's only the forward momentum of the lunge.
Suarez jumps up to create the illusion of contact but that's it. If Suarez doesn't react the whole thing would have passed unnoticed.

No stoppage in play, no big debate, no slow motion replays and multiple angles. Oh yeah, and no red card.

If you see one of those lovely slow mo's he does catch his trailing leg a bit... At first thought he put his foot between Suarez's, but he does at least touch his boot.

Oh well, FA will sort it out if any action is to be taken.
 
The FA will do naff all, not even worth lodging an appeal &#8211; we've had much better grounds in the past and failed. It's just not in their interest to do the right thing by Newcastle.

This thing of reversing debatable decisions NEVER happens, because the FA would rather see the discipline happen to serve as an example &#8211; fair or not. Can you imagine them undermining a ref so publicly? Fat chance.

For me it's the crazy punishment of a 3 game ban that needs rethinking as it's rarely befitting the incidents, of which we're only going to see more of if the directives are to send (certain) players off at the first opportunity.
