I recall what a great character he was all accent and sheepskin coat! Will be sadly missed. RIP Bondy
Just discovered that we got £100k compensation from Manchester City for his service while he still had 6 years on his contract! Shows how much football's changed.
Gutted I can't go tonight as I'm actually playing football (or attempting to, I Am available chrissy Hughton) was looking forward to looking at Kane, tettey/fox combo and butterflield Always like to be available to pay tribute to legends.
I'm missing it too - working in Birmingham today. Hope we'll have a minutes applause on Saturday ......
If there is to be a tribute on Saturday, I hope it will be a minute's applause! Much more difficult to "spoil" than a minute's silence!
Post by 'The Tuckster' at Vital Norwich: As a personal memory, John Bond was the first manager that I can remember as a young Norwich City fan. My abiding memory of him is as a cigar smoking, sheepskin coat wearing, somewhat flamboyant manager, and I remember being upset when he left the Canaries for Manchester City. The last time I saw him was at the opening of The Jarrold Stand in (I think) December 2003 with Graham Paddon and Martin Peters. He spoke to the crowd over the mic and I remember him saying that leaving Norwich City was the worst decision he ever made - he said he thought the grass was greener on the other side and as so often in life, it wasn't. I felt sad when I heard him say that. Thank you John, for everything you did for our great club. I know you'll be looking down tonight, smoking a cigar and wearing that coat. The ryder Cup tea are all wearing Navy jumpers and white shirts in memory of Seve this year. Maybe the Norwich team should all come out on Saturday smoking massive cigars and wearing sheepskin coats. No offence menat by the way - the thought just made me smile.
