Just finished watching match of the day, usually i stay up and watch the match but am travelling home to the UK today so needed a good nights rest instead of sitting up till 2 am tearing my hair out.

Left me wondering about the Ghanains, Mensah is certainly still a 50/50 at best, if he should be signed or not, well thats a debate for another time. Muntari hadnt impressed me but that being said i think him and sessognon both did very well yesterday.

For me though Gyan stood out massively, his temperament specifically. When his goal went in there wasnt the trademark celebration, even though there was all the time in the world left on the clock, his first reaction is get the ball, get back up here and lets have it, one isnt enough. Combined with his obvious frustration at his own injury (something these days isnt seen all that much imo, most players way too concerned with themselves) showed a very positive desire to want to see the club do well.

anyway, thats my 2p, back to the packing :)
 
I love Gyan, I think he's brilliant. Buying him was the first sign that we'd moved to a different level. He is a superstar, but the really impressive thing about him is that he doesn't act like one. He's twice the player Cisse was, for example, but he just gets on and does his thing.

I've been out of the country for a few months so haven't followed Muntari, but he played ok today, no? I think it's very hard for loan players. A bit like supply teachers at school. It's ok for keepers, whose job is pretty straightforward, but it must be really hard to slot immediately into a position like CM without knowing how long you're going to be around for.
 
Very good points by the OP and points missed by many. We are all quick to knock when players get it wrong so credit to Gyan for the winning attitude he showed.
 
yep showed good attitude yesterday, perhaps that's where he did his hamstring in his effort to get the game going after his goal.

but still although everyone's on a high, i wouldn't be upset if safc sold him.
 
I'd go ****ing mental if we sold Gyan! He's a brilliant player, never gives up and has a great attitude! I hope he stays here for years to come.
 
I have to agree with the praise for Gyan.

He can be frustrating, because he can be both brilliant and wayward, often within the same game, sometimes he's wild, occasionally he's anonymous, but what Gyan is is a bona-fide and deserving superstar.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Asamoah a couple of times, and can tell you he's just like you see on the park off it, smiles, character, a real glow and presence about him.

For me, Gyan is the key to our growth and future, and i would expect us to reject £30million for him, not for his ability, but for the whole package that he brings, he's a global star, a face and name that the world knows, and an infectious lad to have about the club.

Side note, if Muntari shows a bit more of what he did when he came on yesterday, then i'll be delighted to see him join Gyan as a permanent signing.

firstly it not that i don't like the players, but when they come with big reputations and fail to deliver, i don't see why i should agree with others who are for them.

it's well known i think muntari is rubbish and should go,
i also didn't rate sess, but am definetly coming round to him.
gyan is not the answer for us, with the system and players he has with him, maybe he could be, i don't know.

you will never hear me say against bardo, and i'm a big jordan fan. i also rate steed/bolo but accept they are coming to an end.

who would i like in the summer?

c/d samba or baird.
l/b warnock
l/w downing
c/m adam
c/f sturridge/kuyt. but kuyt just sighned a new deal with lfc.

is that ok for you oca?

That's a pretty decent list mate, i'd go with most of that <ok>
 
fair play, dont want adam though, he seems too flatter to decieve, for all the good shots and passes he has, he loses the ball alot in his own half and it does cost blackpool.

I feel we may go for Samba, im sure big sam will recommend him to bruce in the close season and Warnock is a good shout considering he is leaving Villa after falling out with houllier.
 
I think Asamoah's had a very difficult season through no fault of his own. I was over the moon when we signed him. He wanders, he pulls defences out of shape, he confuses them with where he'll turn up next. And once you've got a defence like that, Darren Bent is going to call Party Time! I think that was potentially one of the finest strike partnerships the Prem has ever seen, precisely because they were both brilliant at what they did and yet were so different. Gyan isn't a poacher and was never going to get under Bent's feet. And with Bent taking the responsibility for regular goals, the pressure would be off Gyan. He could run free and do his sort of damage. They compliment each other so well, those two. Exciting prospect or what?

Sadly, as soon as Asamoah came on stream, Darren was injured. When Darren came back, they didn't gell straight away. No surprise there - Asamoah's a lot different to Kenwyne, and it was always going to take time. But then Villa came in and the rest's history. Since then Gyan has been expected to get our goals - and, whilst he does score goals, he isn't a Bent. That's not his game. It's been a big weight on the lad's shoulders, I think.

I'm looking forward to seeing Asamoah alongside a proper poacher next season. I think we'll fall in love with him all over again.

Pretty much spot on.

Gyan will prosper next season, he's hardly been a disappointment for his first year anyway!
 
If we could see the Gyan that played at Wembley for his national team week in week out then it would be worth buying a season ticket for that alone. The best thing is we have all seen what he is capable of he just needs to have a good pre season. Can't wait ....
 
that's the problem, he was expected to get the goals, that's why bruce and co. took the gamble and let bent go and not replace him.

the gamble never paid off, as like many say he's not a poacher, and danny got injured, but even so it would of been unfair for safc to expect wellbeck to replace bent.

maybe next season we will se a different gyan, a new improved gyan, but that depends on who he is alongside, buy a donkey and gyan will have it all to do, and then we won't see the best of him.

i criticise him, took him seven games to get a goal, but i want him to be a safc. star same as everyone else, but for that to happen, it's down to bruce and co.
 
We signed Gyan knowing he wasn't an out and out scorer, but he was in such a good goalscoring run when Bent left we overlooked it.

Gyan will create space for his partner, and hopefully vice versa, i was personally really looking forward to seeing how people coped with the mobility of him and Frazier, both 'busy' players, would have been a nightmare, especially for less mobile defenders.

that's what i was getting at mate, he isn't an old fashioned c/f, but everyone forgot, and he was expected to get the goals, alongside wellbeck who is no d. bent.

so while i criticise him, i do have some sympathy, put into an impossible position by safc. but hoped for more than ten goals mind.

He should be good for 15 a season, and 8-10 assists in my book, and i think taht's what we'll get with a partner next season.

I rate Gyan massively, i think he's a fantastic talent.
