There are a lot of positives but I don't feel particularly proud in throwing away a game we could've won.

I know it won't, but I just find the negativity hard to believe.

There are two teams in every game and sometimes you can just be beaten by a better team. Van Persie is one of the world's best for a reason and that is it.

All the neutrals are saying well-played and hard luck but some 'fans' of ours can't wait to stick the boot in. It's absolutely pathetic.

I completely agree. Certain people here really need to grow up and be a bit more realistic.

United fans would be insulted by the insinuation that we threw the game away. They are very good at scoring goals. They earn their goals.

Typical Southampton to go defensive (negative) and lose. Tactics up until the subs was spot on. Big error by the manager, there's no doubt about that.

Proud? I was, then the substitutions and the writing was on the wall. You see, even idiots are proud. At the end of the season it will not be how we played as that will not be recorded. The bottom line is we got no points. In all honesty, we gave up another 1 point or 3.

Actually I do doubt that the subs changed the game, what changed the game was the effort wasn't sustainable for 90 minutes and few tired defences, even good ones, can resist Scholes and van Persie. And if we play that well every week and somehow get relegated, I will still be proud.

Well all the neutrals I know I shocked we have spent £12 mil on a winger when we have the back 4 (not including Clyne) and keeper that we do

Do you honestly think that massive efforts weren't made to bring in more than one CB? Spending £12 million on Ramirez wasn't instead of strengthening the defence, we just weren't successful in landing all the targets we were in for. You seem to be implying that NA and NC aren't aware of the situation we are in, whereas they know what we need better than anybody.

We are 3 games into the season, with another 105 points left to play for. We will be fine. And yes, I am proud too.

Thought one man was very good at scoring today, United weren't that special without him.

At one point I was wishing Man U hadn't signed him. But if they hadn't we'd have just been facing him on the 15th instead... ;)

They'd have to get a whole lot of injuries before they were left without a goalscorer. We were fortunate enough that Rooney wasn't playing.

Thanks ptf. Thought the boys were superb and Nigel played it spot on. A bit more luck and we would have got what we deserved. Anyway will pop back on tonight to see if there is any sensible chat going on

Honestly, I don't know why we bother having Nigel when there are so many experts her who should be running the team. I mean, if only people like Saintmagic could be on the staff, then Nigel would have realised we needed defenders.....obviously neither he nor the scouting team were looking for any because they are so utterly clueless and didn't think we needed defenders

Doubt it then. After the changes we had no "out". I agree certain players were tired...the ones mentioned many a time with vitriol by others. I know it, you know it, so why make changes that certainly ensured they were exposed more? After the changes we had nobody to hold up the ball.

A most wonderful cheer erupted in the Portsmouth pub i was in when Man U scored their third.

Let's all laugh at Scum <laugh>

Still, just as long as you're all 'proud' though <laugh>

I'll bite. :)

Well, we may be bottom of the PL with no points just three games in but we're no longer in L1 and aren't in danger of going out of business. Unlike your lot.
