That was a hell of an effort and anyone who can criticise Adkins or the team after that should be ashamed of themselves.

Why are you proud? We still lost. The league table isnt going to award us bonus points for trying, or making a good fist of it! We lost. We have 0 points. We are bottom of the league. Those are the facts. But hey...at least you're proud

We played well but Adkins made the wrong decision when it came to the subs. Lambert needed to stay on.

I know it won't, but I just find the negativity hard to believe.

There are two teams in every game and sometimes you can just be beaten by a better team. Van Persie is one of the world's best for a reason and that is it.

All the neutrals are saying well-played and hard luck but some 'fans' of ours can't wait to stick the boot in. It's absolutely pathetic.

The only thing you could criticise were the three substitutions of our most influential players at that time in the game, however I am still optimistic about our season because we will continue to improve and once we get a win I believe that could be the start of a string of results. Gutted we didn't get anything from the game but thrilled that we are worrying the teams that no one gives us a chance of winning. COYR!!!

Only 3 games in though? And against arguably the two toughest teams in the league. After Arsenal, who played extremely well today, and therefore our next game ensures to be incredibly difficult, I am confident we will start picking up points! We're 3 games into the season, and have had a bloody difficult start, so we should remain behind the team!

Slip on the 1st, no marking on Ferdinand for the 2nd goal or RVP (zonal doesn't count) for the 3rd goal after a sliced clearance from Fonte to give them the corner. Credit to RVP as he's just quality but so disappointing after the sloppy 2nd against Wigan and the 2nd and 3rd against Man City. They have to learn.

Well all the neutrals I know I shocked we have spent £12 mil on a winger when we have the back 4 (not including Clyne) and keeper that we do

I thought Adkins set the team up excellently today, especially in exposing rafael aerially and shutting down kagawa. It was up to the substitutes to threaten on the counterattack but they weren't able to. Perhaps due to mayuka not having an understanding of the system or his teamates. Adkins will learn from today just as everyone in the team will.

I'm extremely proud. I was watching the game in a pub full of neutrals who were all cheering for Southampton by the end of the game. It was a pleasing performance, but typical United to find a way through at the end.

Also proud of that performance. Let's not forget we have had the hardest opening fixture imaginable. We have played well and the fact it took two late goals for the difference between ourselves and United to be shown is remarkable. I have no doubt we will stay up. Ramirez adding to our front line will take more pressure off the backline. We look so comfortable during our solid spells. That last 10 minutes was highlighting our weakness. We can't withstand that sort of pressure like a stoke can.

We just need to keep the morale and belief going over this tough run of fixtures. Was always going to be this way. We're showing we deserve to be in this league and we have some quality players coming in. Yes, Nigel probably made a mistake with the subs, but he'll learn.

Certainly an awful lot to be positive about.

Typical Southampton to go defensive (negative) and lose. Tactics up until the subs was spot on. Big error by the manager, there's no doubt about that.

Proud? I was, then the substitutions and the writing was on the wall. You see, even idiots are proud. At the end of the season it will not be how we played as that will not be recorded. The bottom line is we got no points. In all honesty, we gave up another 1 point or 3.

Lots of positives. Frustrating? Yes. But not every team has a Tevez, or a Van Persie. Up The Saints.
