Here is where Wenger said he wants a completely defensive midfielder: "If someone really top, top class comes up… I do not need to buy an average midfielder," said Wenger. "If someone top, top class turns up, completely defensive, we will consider it. "If you look at the numbers you will see that Song was more of an offensive player than a defensive midfielder," he added. "Arteta can play deeper - the kind of Pirlo role - and we have Diaby who is a very strong defensive player. "We have Coquelin who is also doing very well. I've played many games with Diaby and Wilshere [in midfield] and they were very efficient." http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-my-options-for-deeper-midfield-role
But hey, I was told Levy was a genius in the transfer market... that doesn't add up. Must be why they sold their best player for 60% of the offer they rejected last year.
Yes, and then he said when asked about Sahin - "he could not be a replacement for Song because Sahin is not a defensive midfielder, he plays more upfront". So when he is asked about a replacement for a DM he says Song was not a DM. When he is asked about a Sahin type of a player - Song all of a sudden is a proper DM. The guy was really a versatile player
These rumours don't seem to be going away. They started when we sold Bartley to Swansea, and have quietly been going this whole time.
No Llorente for Bilbao tonight in their game against Atletico Madrid. Been left out of the squad again. Looks like he's moving, i hope we're interested.
http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/909830-chelsea-weigh-up-mapou-yanga-mbiwa-bid-as-arsenal-dally Linked to Yanga- Mbiwa again. Might as well get him, we can give him a year to settle before he replaces Vermaelen next year.
Watching Kolo and Lescott play for City at CB, it's only a matter of time before they come in for TV. They went for Agger who is very similar player to TV. I am already coming to terms with it in order to soften the blow of losing another star player.
Would Wenger allow it? He's keen on Verm, and unlike others, Verm doesn't seem to have an attitude problem.
From everything I look at, TV is clearly the next star player in line to be sold, unless Walcott does not sign a new contract. Cazorla,Giroud and Podolski would have all been here for just a year, so can't see us selling them. AOC and Wilshere are still young and one is still recovering from injury. I do not think TV will be as much of a prick as RVP and Song but the guy will soon realise that a footballers career is not that long and he will need to win something.
