Thoughts? I thought he was v.poor against chelski, gave away a penalty, and nowhere near as much presence as tiote!

He was playing his first premiership game, it was against Chelsea, and he had played against Atrimanos on Thursday!! Not going to judge him to harshly on his performance.

He started well, made a few solid tackles that I didn't expect him to make. As you'd expect a few days after playing in 40 degrees though he got tired pretty quick and started to struggle. He'll improve I'm sure.

Poor? Kind of harsh. Some people, when judging players, seem to block out all the positives, and focus on the negatives.

The penalty was inexcusable, but Tiote also made bad mistakes when he first came.

Anita made a lot of great tackles. He's not strong, but he's quick and aggressive, an precise in his tackling. He made some mistakes, but a few times he made a great challenge and started off a move with a decent pass.

I'm excited about him.

But not jizzing?

Agree that he did not set the world on fire with that performance, but he did have some good touches and apart from the tackle that gave away the penalty he did well defensively.
For a first start in the Prem and against a very strong and aggressive Chelsea, on the back of playing in the heat in Greece, l feel he did okay.
More to come from him l think as his confidence grows, he gels with the team and gets to grips with the league, he can and will only get better.
Slightly excited and hoping for more from him.

Wouldn't say he was poor. He gave away a pen by a naive tackle which Torres made the most of. He barely gave the ball away, kept things ticking over. Seems clear that he'd be better in a 3 in midfield to me. He's not about big crunching tackles but is a smart passer of the ball. Better than Tiote on the ball worse off it. He's not really similar to Tiote more of a compliment to him I think. Well I hope.

he's more or less said today that torres is a cheat, that he dived,i did think he went down rather quickly

My first reaction at the time was that Anita never touched him, but the replay suggests that he did make contact with him, not much contact, but enough to go down and get the spot kick.
That,s the way of things today, he was a little reckless hanging out a leg like that, he will hopefully learn from it.

I liked him a lot. Give the lad a chance. Some very solid tackles and good work rate. Let's give him few more weeks before rushing to a decision. Too me though hes got lots going for him to make real impact-looking forward to seeing lots more of him

Considering how long some of our best players took to find their feet, I'm willing to give him a lot of time before judging him.

He's not a Tiote type, he's lightweight but skillful and I think once we get used to his playing style people will warm to him. <ok>

The only bit I agree with is he doesn't have "as much presence as Tiote!"

1. He was decent considering the travelling, heat exhaustion and a full 90 mins less than 48 hours before hand.
2. Penalty was very harsh, no contact was made. Torres even through his leg out in an attempt to find contact and still didn't get any. FT should have been booked for diving, no doubt.

We know from the Arsenal 4-4 that Dowd hands out penalties for next to nothing. He is a very poor referee!

He was poor he gave away the ball on numerous occasions not to mention a penalty.

Yes lets give him time to improve but there is no excusing that he has had a poor start so far.

He was ok, better than the Tiote horror show against Spurs

I really don't know where people get some of this material from, but this is making me laugh.

Horror show? Are you for real? He played a few **** passes, but his overall performance wasn't bad.

Numerous occasions? Watch the replay, I count no more than 5 times. Yeah that's not good, but over 90 mins it's not a disaster, and I'm sick of people concentrating on the negatives, especially when people have just started

He showed good precision in the tackles he made, he showed good aggression, and he also played some good passes, and started moves off. He played a great pass that almost had us in. He found Ba in space, and got us into a threatening position. He made the best pass of the game, from any player on the pitch.

He was far away from poor.

From his sub appearance vs Spurs, to his game vs Atromitos and his game vs Chelsea, he's shown that he'll take a bit of time getting used to the side, but he's shown a lot of promise, he's done more good than bad since he came.

Can't believe the negativity that's going round here at the moment. It's quite pathetic.
