How many games is enough to form a view?

We've played three competitive games and several friendlies and though that's certainly not enough to write a new player off, it's enough to be concerned that he's not going to be the answer to our goal scoring problems.

I'd like to see proschwitz play along side an instinctive striker (hold your laughter) like Simpson or Fryatt and i'll reserve judgement on him until then, I think it would seriously benefit him having someone who is a bit sharper than McLean in the box and thats all I've seen him with so far. McLean must be a nightmarish strike partner for someone like Fryatt his positioning is terrible for a striker, I don't think he'd of been in the right place to score against Brighton let alone stick it in the net.

The thing is no one is scoring. Unfair to blame the big lad

We'd have won last night with a flat back 4 with Cam, Aluko and Koren playing off NP

Yeah but what about Fryatt being out? Which is basically the team that Bruce wants to play; having Fryatt alongside Nick. Nick's still getting used to the new physicality in this League and will learn the new tricks needed to keep the dirty bastard defenders at bay. The friendlies weren't against the teams we're playing now so that isn't really justification for passing too much judgement on players.

Look at Cullen for example, it may not have been friendlies but it was the reserves and how many did he score? He was banging in goals for fun and was just utter ****e when it came to competitive fixtures.

All true, it's unfortunate that we've not been able to see our first choice pairing start the season and Brucey seems to have missed what our second choice pairing is. I have the impression that we're treading water a bit until a couple of new first choice players arrive, I think we missed a major opportunity last night.

You are free to form a view after 1 friendly - but to start calling out he's not worth this and he can't do that after 2 games is ridiculous.

Agreed. The only real criticism I would make at this point is that Simpson isn't starting. He looks sharp and looks to be enjoying having a big man next to him. McLean is decent cover on the bench for both the wing and upfront. If we're signing these players, we need to do business rather sharp-ish and help get this team sorted for when Fryatt is fit and ready. We'll be advancing up the League soon.

As soon as the new midfield and up front set up gain some chemistry and the players understand each other, we'll be dictating games from midfield. Keep the solidarity in defence too and we'll be sorted this Season. We're showing again that we're hard to score against which is good because our attack looks to be promising IMO.

I've now watched him in five games and though I certainly haven't written him off, I'm concerned that he isn't going to solve our goal scoring problems. I might be completely wrong and he might get his act together and be **** hot, it happened with Turner and if happens with Prozzy, nobody will be happier than me.

Everybody is concerned that Proschwitz may not be the cure, but it's hard for one guy to become the quick difference really. It needs to also be a team and confidence effort especially form midfield. The only problem with us is, we have the quality to do damage, but nobody other than Aluko and Simpson - when he's on - seems to want the ball and movement is ****e. Once the willingness to attack is sorted, we have Fryatt back, Big Nick will be a great help; giving us threats from crosses and set plays, assisting Fryatt who we all know loves a target man alongside him and helping the distribution of the ball around the opposition area.

My post was just about finishing, standing next to someone tall won't make a difference to anyone's shooting. We must have some kind of mental problem throughout the team when it comes to goals.

People continue to rate Prosser on the basis that he cost £2.6m. He did not cost £2.6m. That was an agreed tool to make Nick look stupid for saying funds werent available and give the German club justification for selling a fans favourite.

But lets forget that anyway and instead consider that if he'd signed Prosser for free and spent £2.6m on Aluko then nobody would bat an eyelid. Swings and roundabouts.

Don't start the rants about Bruce Jnr again. He has played ok from what we've seen so far, give him a break for gods sake.

The problem is not just one or two strikers scoring its the fact that last year how many goals did Cairney, Evans, Mckenna and Olofinjana get between them. How many did Stewart, Brady and King get, then the full backs and defence barely scored to. Koren and Fryatt together basically got a decent amount for a front two to score. Even then the amount of chances wasted was ridiculous by Fryatt, his positioning makes up for that though. We need goals throughout the team, look at West Ham there top scorer had two more than Fryatt, Readings top scorer had less than Fryatt i believe, but both sides had numerous players scoring, something we don't.

We still aren't creating or scoring goals ,anymore than under 2 previous managers .Ok we scored against a couple of non league teams (woopty -do!!) but pre- season lower league opposition showed up our lack of creativity and finishing.Simpson wasn't the answer in the past nor will he be in the future.Matty Fryatt runs hot and cold,Stewart has gone backwards,Proschwitz hasn't set anyones heart racing ,Koren is an enigma (especially if played wide) to me it just seems as "same old ,same old!" WE HAVE to get a creator.................... to even give the strikers a chance to shine.

Couldn't agree more with dem-on. I watch Mclean when the "forwards are haviing their pop at goal in the warm-up 9 times out of 10 he blasts the b-gger over the bar and this is without any defence in situ. Bruce is obviously aware of the situation and I'm sure he will rectify things

    1) On the signing of Alex Bruce whats the issue here.? He was signed as cover and has done very well each time he has played. So for me he has been a good bit of business. Had his best game @ Blackburn for us imo.

2)Nick Proschwitz has yet to be given a chance to score in the 2 league games played. Yes he missed open goals in the pre-season games but they dont count for anything apart for match fitness. NP has good skills and needs time and chances on goal before anyone can judge him properly. 2 games in and he his crap. We could sign Messi and the same nonsense would come out if he failed to score. Lets judge Nick when he has had chance to settle. I want him in the box facing the goal when he gets the ball.

Agree completely with both them points Tickler. Especially about Proschwitz, he needs to receive the ball in them threatening positions and he'll be banging them in.

Agreed 100%. Many of us @ Blackburn felt the same. NP got the ball most of the time in non dangerous areas. This work should be done by the wingers and midfield. I have every confidence all will be well soon.
