sad truth, what have we been offered for Carroll? £12 mill from Newcastle and a loan offer (cough!!) from west ham, with a view to buy (cough!!), cant think of any others.
Wasn't that a 'view to buy' at 17m though? You know as well as I do if West Ham loan him for the season - that is all it would ever be
carroll is spectacular.... in porn movies (from what i hear seeing i'm just a smoking hot lesbo).... as a footballer he's not so hot. still i'd rather him play a crouch role for us than have him putting newcastle over us in the prem.
That's just what a smoking hot lesbian who didn't want us to think she were a smoking hot lesbian would say.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken out over the future of striker Andy Carroll and claims he would "need to be a nutcase" to allow the England international to leave Anfield this summer. We will bring you more on this story shortly. Sky Sports News (via TWITTER)
that was a loan deal to Newcastle though wasn't it he was referring to. we know we don't want to send him on loan, so why Newcastle are persistent i don't know. there is another story that he is saying the squad is too thin, hopefully the owners are taking note and will put their hand in their pocket but i wont hold my breath.
not great at the moment lol, think the problem we have is the owners expect miracles of us challenging for 4th place (i said challenging!!) but on clubs at the other end of the table budget. its great we have got high earners off the wage bill that are/were only squad players at best (exception of Cole sadly) but we need some proven quality up top and that cost money and wages. whether we get that, time will tell, but this sell to buy crap(looks like), ha ha been there before, done that, doesn't bloody work!
As I see it the problem he (Rodgers) has got is two fold; 1) anyone Liverpool are in for will have inflated costs, both transfer fees and wages (but then, this has always been the case for your club). 2) in order to afford these inflated costs he must first get rid of the deadwood (the responsibility of management, boardroom as well as team, over the previous 5 years). Getting rid of the deadwood is one hell of a task as, by definition, the players involved are only going to want to leave for a bigger club and/or bigger wages....and their performances over the last 2 years will not be attracting such offers. This will take time. A few things I don't understand; Why was some Yank on the board putting pressure on Rodgers recently talking about how European football was essential for the finances of the club? Why was your captain Gerrard claiming top 4 was realistic at the start of the season? and Why is Brendan continually linked with midfielders when everyone can see you've either got to play Carroll or replace him? I realise he probably can't afford to replace him without first selling him....so why isn't he being linked with season long loans for centre-forwards? Brendan hasn't played the Carroll situation well IMO. Should have kept him onside a bit more as you may have to depend on him. Pre-season can't have been good for his morale and without minutes in games how is he to learn the centre-forward role in Brendan's system? Should have been more subtle re: selling him and should have been playing him up top more pre season.
It was a buy clause obliging them to buy at the end of next season for £17m UNLESS they got relegated, can understand the logic there
Lol the deal that never dies! Same old drivel. Interesting made up sentence there with Rodgers "guaranteeing a starting place" or at least I hope it's made up.
I can't imagine any manager "guaranteeing" a space, what if he underperforms , although Sahin would good enough for our starting XI and Gerrard's future easily resolved by pushing him into the front 3 where he has less defensive duties and overall responsibility other than to score/assist
Ach it's the old Newspapertwist. Like the Mirror claiming that J Henry would be "willing to oversee" the selling of Adam & Spearing to provide a transfer kitty. It's deliberately worded to wind us up because we know the views of the owners is to live within our means. Can you imagine BR going to Henry and saying "I want to sell Adam, he's rubbish" and Henry saying "mmmm let me ponder that one and get back to you; " It's the only job in the world outside of PR that you won't get fired for just making your work up if you can't be arsed going and getting any.
