Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Master Yoda, May 27, 2012.

  1. Sky Sports are reporting that Bolton are interested in Spearing. It doesn't say loan or transfer etc

I think Adebayor's wages cost the same as our three put together.

  3. Reports are that Spurs weren't prepared to pay more than £80k per week. Adebayor was on £175k per week at Man City with two years left to run. Man City have agreed to pay the difference for the remaining two years.

Makes a mockery of the £5m Spurs have paid, it will cost Man City £10m+ in wages!

It's mental, just shows how rapid their climb has been.

Allen and Borini are on 40k and Assaidi on 30-35k I believe.

I just love the fact that it's normal practice and not absolutely gob smackingly shocking anymore - Adebayor was earning 175k a week. ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS A WEEK for Adebayor. Jesus Christ what has happened

I think Sigurddsson would have been a good player - shows composure in the final third, creative, can pass, score, assist - for £8m, it would have been a risk worth taking :(

i'd beleive it.... city are mugs.. i'd rather he rot than give a player to a "rival"

if assaidi is on 30k per week i'm not suprised. we seem to think villa wages are a good thing. one of these days we'll be scratching our head about finsihing 16th with our wonderful team and wondering why while arsenal continue to pay smaller fees and bigger wages.. sahin will join arsenal and they will finish 4th IMO.

sigurdsson had to tell the boss he actually likes to go do one cos of the wages he was offering. (swansea wages at lfc) now some would say so to that but i nthe end the moment spurs stepped in they were going to pay top 4 wages.

Look at the mess we are in because players like Cole, Aqua, Kuyt, Maxi take up about 5 million quid a year in wages, it needs to be addressed.

Don't get me wrong, world class players deserve 100k+ a week (well they don't but in the bizarre world of football its the norm) and that's why Suarez got that pay rise but of the 4 mentioned above who is even close to World Class? None of them.

When you are young and not proven then we shouldn't be offering crazy wages, you should EARN that new contract worth loads of money.

To be fair to Kuyt, he worked hard throughout the years ...

Maxi was a free transfer or (did we pay £2m for him?) - either way, low transfer = high sign on/wages

Being in the Champions League enables you to pay these ridiculous wages. At least we're now rectifying the problem ...

I do have to say, Chelsea going for Cavani, I can see that as who else do you have other than Torres? ( Top signing it would be too <grr> )

But Spurs are still in the hunt for Shaktars Willian and still trying to get Leandro Damiao, they don't ahve anything we don't have other than maybe paying a little more money but for these players it would surely be worth it.

Also think if we are going for AJ we should play a bit of hardball with them, not just stump up 15 mil.

I hope they do get Cavani because then they might let us have Sturridge. I heard that enquired and Rodgers and Sturridge are both keen on a deal but Di Matteo isn't.

Spurs are in the market for some good players this summer.

Yeah but you have to look to the future to be safe - how many clubs nearly go under because they have a few good years, sign players up for 5 years on mega wages then drop down to the bottom. Got to be careful!

Even with Sturridge, anything over 10 mil sorry. We seem to be keen on British based players with extra $$$ attached to their name. Walcott would be the same, I know it brings in something we lack but for someone who can be extremely hit and miss to cost say 15+ would be a lot.

i'll be honest when kuyt was performing he was worth it, so was carra... its the fualt of guys giving these guys long contracts each time.

Cole was a big gamble on fitness grounds but 4 years 90k... no worse that jovanovic! he was a bad buy.

What i can say is players who are/were worth their big wages delivered but there is a high probability if you buy cheap players on low wages they won't turn into world beaters and thats why i say villa money and we'll end up in villa's position and wonder why?

I agree they should earn those wages.... i wish sterling and suso were given the chance to show they are worth it.... i wish we would only buy the likes of sahin, mata, hazard... all the guys everyone knew would be worth it... but no club does that... look at the waste at city and chelsea and how many flops played for utd...

our issue is we tore apart what took rafa 4 years of mistakes and good buys to build, we gave kenny no time nor hodgson and so each managers buys are being sold. if rodgers lasts he'll have a chance to build. if not i think by the time we talk about rectification yet its going to be villa like.

True but with a British boss at the helm, I think we can expect more if it purely because they have better knowledge of the English/British market. Just like Houllier did with the French market and Rafa did with the Spanish market.

We got Rafa in at the right time - just before the Spanish national side really took off. If only he was backed to buy the lieks of Silva, Mata etc ...

Muahaha - get used to it. I have faith in you ...

Oliver Kay (The Times) believes that we won't be spending much until Carroll/Agger leaves. Seems to be the general feeling around the club,

Furthermore, he goes onto say that we can expect 2 more deals even if Carroll and Agger stay. We should also put things into context - our spending is quite high for a club that is not in the Champions League.

Interestingly - we're after a young player but it is a non-headline name.

And he can;t see Dempsey, Johnson or Sturridge coming in without any money coming in from owners or player sales.
