First day of the Ebor meeting at York throws up the following conundrum:

3 Group races with 5, 6 and 9 runners
3 handicaps with 20, 17 and 17 runners

The G3 Acomb Stakes is Ballydoyle v Khaled Abdulla v Sheikh Hamdan v Godolphin's bedding in stable
The G2 Great Voltigeur sees the big boys of Khaled Abdullah and Godolphin taken on by notable and admirable patrons of the game in Sir Robert Ogden, the Niarchos Family and George Strawbridge.
The G1 Juddmonte International sees Frankel step up to 10 furlongs and he really ought to have no problem dispatching this lot. I can only hope he does something to persuade connections that beating an equally poor field at Ascot in October will not be a fitting end to his career.

Pins out for the handicaps, even money says we don't see a winner lower than 10/1 in the 3 races.

Are our Group races becoming the exclusive reserve of the elitists? The Acomb has prize money down to 6th and yet only 5 runners??? Boo shame.

Lingfield and Kempton cater for the sand rats, Newton Abbot for the summer jumpers and Bellewstown for our Irish friends.

Best of luck everyone <ok>

Rex Imperator will not win that - seen the turn around with Zero Money who was given a horror ride on yepp you guessed it Shergar Cup day

MASS RALLY will be on the bridle yards from the line = BANKER OF THE YEAR.

I will take some of that even money odddy as REX IMPERATOR wins the opener at a lot less than double figures <ok>

Hope he does for you mate, for me the big sprint handicaps at York are absolutely unfathomable and seem to be, without exception, bookies benefits

Not this time Stick - usually mate but I can't have him finishing ahead of Zero money - 9lbs better off for 2 length ? I know Baker gets on well with the horse but if Doyle wanted the ride he could have it - got it wrong last time they met mind. Not even sure I fancy Zero money either tbh - so tempted by Mass Rally again as the strong pace will really suit - but he always ****ing refuses to put his head down.

Where's Nass these days lads? I'd be expecting essays from him on the effect of the draw in 5F sprints at York on Gd/Firm by now ????

Placepot dabble for me:

Leg 1: Tax Free, Silvanus, Dickies Lad
Leg 2: Ebn Arab
Leg 3: Main Sequence
Leg 4: erm ..................... Frankel
Leg 5: Deauville Flyer, Downhiller, Contrywide Flame (might be the < 10/1 winner)
Leg 6: Licence To Till, Maven, Aerodynamic

27 lines at 50p = 13.50 bargain <ok>

Glad too see you out there Nass. Hope that injury is all cleared up now?

To be honest that is what I am busy with, started running at long last, seems to be going ok, done 9 miles in three days and building up more strength. Soon be chasing Mo around the track...

Nice one - just spent a few days at my parents and went running up here

- no snow at the moment though ;)

Nice, beats running around the streets of Bath and Chippenham. Today we had monsoon like weather, at least it was cool!

I fancy Captain Dunne in the first at York, went too fast at Epsom and didn't last home. This race has much less pace and hopefully he can dictate a slower pace on this track. Also had a wind op.

Sub-tropical here in Berlin - 29° today and very humid ..................... just started pissing down

Was back in Sheffield for my grandmother's funeral .................. 100 years old she was. Nice service in the church, finished off with "Abide With Me", couldn't sing after the 3rd line, completely choked up. Lovely hymn <ok>

The Olympics have finished you pair of tarts - get yourselves a ****ing burger and a pint and man up - a run pfffttt

I was on hot roast beef and roast pork sandwiches with chips down the pub yesterday afternoon - together with a gallon of Warsteiner <ok>
