just had a quick look at what looks to be a cracking days racing tomorrow.

in the first I agree with Nassau that 18/1 on Captain Dunne looks good value. I also like Le Toreador in that one.

The 2.30 I need to have another look tomorrow but quite like the Mark Johnston horse - Steeler.

in the 3.05 I think Main Sequence is far too short. Ok it was 2nd in the Derby but it was a very poor Derby! The problem I have with the race is that the 3 other main contenders have had most of their races on softer ground. Tomorrow is going to be totally different. I can't help thinking that Thomas Chppendale may be the one to beat in that one though.

3.40 not looking at any of the alternatives to the obvious!

4.15 Deauville Flyer and 4.50 Sir John Hawkwood but will have more of a look at these 2 races tomorrow

Just had a proper look through the card and this is what I'm thinking

14.00 Won't pick the winner myself in 10 attempts so just going to go with stick and RV!
14.30 Dundonnell was going to be a very confident selection but this looks even tougher than I first thought. Steeler looks impressive but looks like he may want further than this. Can't be having afonso de sousa and not sure the ground will suit ebn arab. Dundonnell will still be my bet but not as confident as I was!
15.05 Main sequence has what looks like pretty bombproof form to me. It may not have been the strongest derby form but his unlucky 4th in the grand prix de Paris is working out very well with saint baudolino winning very impressively since. The others all have to improve a lot to challenge for me and I think encke is the one open to most improvement so may play the forecast.
15.40 Frankel, st nic, farhh tricast and maybe a small bet on twice over e/w as he seems massively overpriced.
16.15 Going to take a chance in Countrywide Flame and Olympiad here, both still unexposed on the flat
16.50 Hajras will be my bet in this. Won impressively last time on firm ground and seems to have plenty of scope for improvement and even with a 6lb rise he should definitely be there or thereabouts

Well I've done the studying so here are my thoughts

    York 2.00

I don't think this race is overly competitive so the two that take my eye are two that have been in good form, 12/1 Mass Rally and 22/1 Silvanus

    York 2.30

Wide open race, not one to be betting imho. Should be a great watch and I think that the Hamdan horse's 5L beating of Related is every bit as good as the Juddmonte horse's 12L maiden win. Throw in one of O'brien's better ones and a class 2 maiden winner and you have an good spectacle.

    York 3.05

Main Sequence NAP. Love this horse, think he's too good for these. 2/1 a heck of a price.

    York 3.40

I don't think anything can get reign in the freak but if there was every a day not to be betting on him it's today imho. I love SNA to bits, I think he is the best 12f horse but I'm not convinced he's anywhere near as good over 10f. Farhh for me will run a place based on his 2 2nds over 10f to SYT and to Nathaniel and is 16/1.

I don't have any thoughts of the rest of the day other than wondering if they might not stick a few hurdles up for the 4.15

I've gone a bit mad today. Taken from earlier posts on the Betting Experiment:

York 14.00 £1,000 ew Rex Imperator at 5/1
    York 15.40 Sri Putra £100ew at 66/1
York 15.05 Main Sequence £400 win at 9/4
York 16.50 Sir John Hawkwood £1,000 win at 3/1

Everything is crossed as, if all these fail, I'll have only £2,600 left in the Betting Bank and only £4,000 in the Piggy Bank.

I'm amazed at Sri Putra's odds of 66/1 (148/1 on the Exchanges). He's a big strong boy and probably just about matured at the age of 6. In his latest race he ran 10.5f on good to firm ground at York in 1.76s faster than standard, when all but one other race was slower than standard. He will love the course, love the ground and love a fast run race. 66/1 is a ridiculous price and if I were an Exchange backer I'd be on at 148/1. Or would you have to bet win only for those odds?

Win only at those odds Ron. Really annoying when betfairare always proclaiming there outstanding odds and dont point out that win only markets are entirely different to each way markets. i like your reasoning though Ron. Looking forward to today's feast, thank god for smartphones.

Really want Frankel to slam them today but slightly concerned by that stupid wide open York track, i'm sure his trainer will have all that covered though.

    Good luck all
