Maybe if we bought him for 10m then I wouldn't be so bothered about it but we blew 35m on him! He shouldn't be on the bench for that price, he should be starting but he just doesn't suit Rodgers' style. Also, berbatov scored when he played, and use to score quite a lot, Carroll doesn't. And he slows play down whenever he's on, same goes for Adam.

Like I said, I'm all for sticking up for Carroll. But if he's not going to feature for us this season then we might as well if we can get as much money for him and buy a replacement that will offer something he can't...goals. Sounds simple but who the **** can we buy that can score 15-20 goals for us?

  4. You have just 100% backed my argument. Selling him now won't change the fact we spent £35m on him!

I would rather have £20m sitting in the bank for transfers in January than Carroll sitting on the bench providing few goals and losing value and sucking wages (£80kpw) every month

  6. Absolutely, but only of there is a credible replacement available <ok>

So you'd rather we keep him, Rodgers not play him because he doesn't fit into his system, and then everyone continue to laugh at us because our £35m striker is rotting away on our bench. I just want whats best for the club and I feel getting rid would be best, but that's my opinion <ok>

I think there is definetly value for money out there. Lucas Barrios wants to leave China and was immense for Dortmund, Sevilla are in a rut, get Pepe to talk to negredo perhaps? Lyon have fallen off a bit, sneaky bid for Lisandro Lopez? They are out there it is up to us if we want to actually look around a bit.

  9. That is not what I said. I said the £35m price tag is irrelevant and that we shouldn't sell him because of that label.

If you look at the other comments I have made you will see that I think selling him for the right price is the right way forward because it would be the best thing for the club, not because 'he cost £35m and sits on the bench'.

Edit: in short, my issue is with people having to refer to the £35m price tag to justify a point. We have paid that price and there is nothing we can do about it, lets look forward rather than at the past <ok>

It's not selling him because he is expensive and isn't playing, it is primarily to do with he doesn't do the job for us. Andy Carroll is on the pitch, how confident are you that he will score us the goal? Not me, sorry, but I think we should look for someone who if he is on the field and you know a chance falls to him he will at the very least get it on frame.

Suarez is the same way btw, I have all the confidence in the world he will create, get in the right spot, meg all 11 on the pitch and the referee but in front of goal I just know he will find a way to muck it up somehow. I think having another player to help him out up front will let him have some better success in front of goal.

Let us put it this way, if BR had £20m to spend and Carroll was at Spurs in this exact situation, who would be happy for us to buy him? No one, that's who, which is precisely why we should sell him to those offering amounds in the region of £17-£20m (West Ham) because at the end of the day £20m is more useful to us than Carroll

I don't want rid because he cost us £35m, I want rid because he won't be used and when he is used he just doesn't do much, the price is just another factor. I've also said I want what's best for the club and I feel that getting rid will be best for us, but that's just what I feel.

On the basis that Carroll is not good enough and could potentially get us over £15m we should sell him. Most other players who aren't good enough would barely get us £10m. <ok>

No £35m price tag accounted for.

    1. there is a theory in the pundit world that the soooner you sell on then thats where you will get the best ldeal, leave it and value has to go down.

    2. selling him and removing wages has its attractions but the loss taken has nothing to do with it.

    3. think baout the tax. if we hve paid 35mil for him and broke enven on torres deal we paid no tax... great, this year if we take in 20mil i guess that could be set against borini, allen etc and we pay no tax but i think profit bought them si i honeslty think FSG would not want us to take in 20mil and not spend it at all unitl january. i think they'd want us to buy

  18. Fair enough, we generally agree then. But I still don't agree that 'the price is just another factor' though, it is irrelevant IMO <ok>
