I think Johnson could do well for us, you would think he would be hungry and would like to show City they shouldn't have let him go.

Would 100% rather AJ than Dempsey for age reasons.

Can't see anyone else coming in to be honest. We haven't got the funds, who can we sell?

Cole - Injured so unlikely to be sellable before the window shuts, wages too high.
Adam - ****, on one wants him.
Carroll - To expensive for clubs.

Downing. Could get around £10m for him? Wouldn't be surprised to see Spearo sold for about £3/4m

Wouldn't mind it if Spearing went, if we're offered 10m+ for Downing we should take it, and I'd take 20m+ for Carroll too. Then with the money we should hopefully get some replacements. <ok>

spearing = guthrie, 2mil absolute max....

cole = worthless but if you could shift him and pay him 5mil to go it'd be worth it. thats a years wages but he's got 2 years to run yeah? pay him off now let him get a signing on fee and 45-50k someplace for another 3 years and chuff it at least stelring or pacheco might have a chance to come in.

downing looks a defeated man and he's as weak as a new born kitten on the right wing too. 10mil? I'd deffo take it... give him back to villa if we have not paid all the moeny yet...

carroll should be allowed to rot as no way would i allow newkie to laugh at us no matter what.

I think Newcastle will buy Carroll on deadline day. They have no pressure or need to buy a striker so they'll likely run down the clock and force us to make a quick fire sale.

maybe, who knows..... i'd really like to think we'd just tell them to go phook a duck if they do. Certainly i can never say never and stranger things have happened. plus there is no queue is there.

If we could get west ham to just take cole on a free i'd be happy.

35 million pound striker to sit the bench. No matter how you cut it just doesn't look good, doesn't feel right. Our number 9 should be on the field at all times getting us vital goals, unfortunately Carroll cannot do that yet but we need goals and need them pronto.

who knows? we might just be stupid enough to wait til january again.. why not? I mean it's not like utd don't have 4 forwards that waste... we can get by with one and a few untested guys as per the past 4 years... i eman it really worked for us then didn't it?

    <laugh>

  15. Why does that bit matter...? It is in the past and we can't do anything about it, we won't get that money back. As far as Rodgers is concerned, Carroll is just another player <ok>

Nothing we can do about it but it's still a lot of money to spend on one player for them to sit on our bench. I know it's not his fault but I'd rather we get the max amount of cash for him rather than sit on our bench, that's providing we replace him with another striker <ok>

Because your record signing shouldn't be ont he bench? This isn't even Rodgers, Kenny had him on the bench most of the time because he couldn't do the business. He won't get us the goals, he could be a good plan B, but sorry we wasted 35 million on a player who was hurt when we bought him and didn't want to leave his club.

I know we can't get it back but you had better be pretty sure when spending that sort of money you get some value for money is all.

    Anyhoo....

Could business that, Douglas is a pretty good CB and will do well with Hangeland I feel. cheeky fantasy team possibly!

I've stuck up for Carroll in the past, but we don't have top 4 aspirations for as long as he is our number 9. We need better quality end of, and that comes a lot cheaper than £35m. Who cares if we sell him at a cut price, he shouldn't rot on the bench just so the Geordies can't laugh at us because I have news for you... EVERYONE IS LAUGHING AT US.

If we get rid of Carroll at half the price and buy a replacement that looks fairly comfortable in front of goal then we may claw back a bit of dignity.

  19. So what you are really saying is you'd rather cash in because he has a possibly high value than see him sat on the bench. Still nothing to do with the £35m we paid for him.

I couldn't give a monkeys if a player cost £1.57 or £100m, that deal's been done and we move forward. If selling that player is the best option for the club to move forward then so be it, don't sell the player because 'he was expensive and isn't playing', those are the sort of decisions that have gotten into the **** in the first place!!!!

Everyone seriously needs to forget what we paid for Carroll and assess him for his current worth. Imagine we got Carroll on a free last year, what would you want us to do with him? Answers obvious, sell him for £20m as it's a fair value given his talent and also the fact he will not feature for BR
