Without wanting to get ahead of ourselves. I've just noticed I've got a few things being organised for May, and I've realised that we potentially have two as yet unplanned football matches. I can't seem to find anything on when the Play-off semis are likely to take place though. If we do sneak 6th, I know we would be at home first, and away for the evening game - but does anyone know when they're due to take place? There's nothing on the beeb or the FL website...
http://www.londonevents2011.com/news-football-play-off-final-dates-2011.html There you go hope this helps and im away with work for the whole lot, bollocks But Semis yet to be anounced!! But also found this http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/8952775.Provisional_play_off_dates_announced/
Last game is 7th April, so I would have thought the PO Semis will be the 14th/15th weekend and the 2nd legs the Tuesday/Wednesday straight after. That would give them the Championship semis one each day that weekend and then give the winners about 10 days to sell and distribute the tickets for the Final. And I've just realised I might be in Hull that weekend. I normally buy my train tickets 3 months in advance to get them cheap and I've used my travel budget for the season. But my folks are coming down one weekend in May so I'll get free travel. If we make it please let it be that one and us have the game on the Saturday.
What's bad about that is I noticed it while I was writing the post and thought I'll sort that out in a minute, worked out the gaps to the playoff final from the other games, and then forgot to go back and change it.
According to someone on another forum, the provisional dates are: Thurs 12th May Semi-Final 1st leg Championship Fri 13th May Semi-Final 1st leg Championship Mon 16th May Semi-Final 2nd leg Championship Tues 17th May Semi-Final 2nd leg Championship 30th May Championship Play-Off Final (Wembley Stadium)
2 night games? I don't mind as long as that second leg lands on Monday night... I'm not so sure I can get down south in time on the Tuesday. It is gonna be a long trip no matter who we get.
It seems odd to have all night matches, so it might be rubbish, I just picked it up off another site.
OFFICIAL PROVISIONAL DATES CAN BE FOUND HERE:- http://www.football-league.co.uk/play-offs/news/20110404/play-off-dates-announced_2293328_2330669
those are the dates on the Football League website and perhaps more importantly on the site of the people who tell the league what to do (SKY).
Nice to see League 2 get the best dates (with Friday and weekend matches) Ridiculous considering Championship football will a) bring in a bigger audience anyway and b) there will be many more fans travelling to the games.
It's probably part compensation for the fact that they're not getting their play-off finals at Wembley this year.
The League One and League Two play-off's are being played at Old Trafford, due to the Champions League final being on at Wembley on May 28th, with the Championship play-off being at Wembley two days later.
