Christian 'Chucho' Benitez

Club America -> Southampton

£2.5M all up front fee.

Proposed 2 year contract.

After a not completely succesful spell in the Premiership with Birmingham City in the 2009-10 season, and having returned to Latin America, playing for Mexican outfit Club America, Chucho is set to give the Premiership one last chance with new boys Southampton.
Chucho is said to have unfinished business with the Premiership, and Southampton are the perfect team for him, as they are searching for a forward to accompany club record signing Jay Rodriguez, playing just behind the target man and club talisman Rickie Lambert in the newly adopted 4-3-2-1 formation.

Fees are said to have been agreed between Club America and Southampton and personal terms are now being discussed.

who was this.... lol

Due to his sublime form for Southampton F.C. on FIFA 12 career mode, I am thanking Christian Benitez by giving him a rumour of his own, that he is on his way to Southampton for £2.5M (a right winger), giving the prem a second chance after things didn't go great for him last time round with Birmingham, and he is now making his return from Mexico.

Anyone care to help spread this? :D

Italian Journalist Carlo Laudisa of Gazzeta Dello Sport says:

"Increasing competition for Ramirez #. After Tottenham # # also comes forward the Uruguayan Southampton for the Bologna player."

"Serious pitfall of the #Southampton Ramirez. He is toward it. Now the word of #Bologna"

An Italian student/journo covering the story tweeted:

"Southampton makes offer for Ramirez and he may accept. A newly promoted English team have more money to spend than Inter."

He believes Bologna want €20m for Ramirez due a 30% sell on clause with his former club, Penarol.

I'm not suprised by that - Inter's wage bill is enormous.

I'm starting to get this little inkling of belief that we may actually sign Ramirez. If we do I think a lot of pundit's jaws would drop. Sod that MY jaw would drop - it would be an astonishing signing.

The Italian football guy says Ramirez is only on €600k p/a. Now that's only roughly £471.5k per year.

We already have players earning more, I guess it could happen, he would have re-sale value too.

Has to be something in this. It's being reported in numerous places.

Yeh but that could have been said with so many players we've been linked with over the summer. Repeated F5s is the saints fans only hope now.

On another note, Nixon is saying we have renewed our interest in Scott Dann - and he says he has heard a figure of £4.5m bandied about.

Supposedly B'burn wanted £6m and we offered £3m initially.
