Think Piers Morgan is a twat, but his 1k to Great Ormond for every GB medalist that sings the anthem is class.

Hi Peeps

Just watched the medal ceremony for the Mens Coxless Fours, and without getting all jingoistic and monarchial about it, even the Aussie silver medalists sang the British National Anthem. Which of course, they used to, but nowadays sing Advance Australia Fair. Guess some people have long memories or have old allegiances.

Enjoy your match, Fran.

Ennis blitzes the Javelin and can now basically jog around the 800m waving to the crowd and still win (well not quite, but it'll take an incredbile performance from the others or a disaster for Ennis for her to not get Gold now).

she gets gold in my eyes!"

I would imagine he'd be the fastest player in the entire leagues of football..? If there's a faster Olympic runner who used to play professional footy before him, I've not heard of him. Wonder what Walcott would be capable of over, say 60m..?

well, 0-40 metres, he'd be mega quick, hen he'd get near to the 60M mark and he'd stop and spend 10 seconds thinking about what he should do with the ball. Add that all up and I'd say about 16 seconds.

I think there are a few footballers who could be good athletes, it's just that they get hoovered up by football at such a young age that they don't do athletics. There is now a big push within British sport to try to catch those young lads who drop out of the youth football system (and to a lesser extent those who drop out of rugby and cricket academies) and try to get them into another sport. I think i'm right in saying that there are a few in this GB team who came from other sports (i'm pretty sure some of the rowers dropped out of rugby academies).

Not football, but the great Eric Liddell played rugby for Scotland.

Ennis is proof that you dont have to bottle it with the weight of expectation upon your shoulders. She has been buoyed by the crowd, and says it has spurred her on. To be so consistent over such a range of disciplines is some feat!

Did she not say in that documentary that she was finding it tough being the big hope for these games?
