I'm finding the boat races quite exciting. They must be so fit. When the say just 500 metres to go, I'm already exhausted. On a general note, when that GB flag goes up and the national anthem plays, I find it very emotional, as I do when listening to the fantastic crowd cheering on our competitors. Janabelle. Hope you are having a great time. You volunteers are doing a great job and I hope you will give us a full account when you get the time.
I haven't heard of any buggering about here. Mind you I haven't met any Welsh over here yet. There does seem to be a lot of ****ing about though.
Hey, Cyc, your archer Taylor Worth was impressive- really cool guy but he lost in the dreaded shoot-out to reach the last eight. Apparently he comes from Busselton, south of Perth- and they have the longest wooden edifice (a jetty) in the Southern Hemisphere. It seems a strange claim to fame- can't you Aussies afford metal? Do you know anything about it- and how long is it? PS. I hope some French arsonist doesn't "jeter du feu sur la jetee." It'll then be "une jetee rejetee dans la mer!" Sorry about that- it's corny!
Agree Ron, the rowers are tremendous athletes, but then again I thought that about the cyclists, runners, swimmers, gymnasts etc. I suppose when the best of the best get together, we can expect heroics.
You know Tam, I'd never heard of the jetty until you mentioned it. Looks like an amazing structure. What's this new amazing building material called steel? Busselton Jetty link. http://www.busseltonjetty.com.au/
Anyone know what those small square things are in front of all the grandstand seats? They look as though they are made of leather.
Cyc, ta for the link- it looks fantastic! 1841 metres, eh? And an underwater observatory/ 300 marine species. Seems a great place to visit/have a holiday. Walking along the pier at sunset after an evening meal of best fish. Beautiful! PS. Steel? We'll ship some out to you, just like we did the convicts. Don't worry, Cyc, civilisation will come....eventually!
Ron - I'm having a mega time! 3 shifts down and 7 to go. Before my next shift tomorrow I am going to the athletics in the stadium. Lucky so and so that I am - won a ticket in the draw for Gamesmakers. Checked the schedule and that sessions includes heats for the mens 100m. I'll probably have to leave a bit before the end as I have to be in Park Lane for 2.30 pm! I'm not complaining though. Camera is going with me and I'll try and take some photos. More gold today
Murray in the tennis final too! How good is today! Now if i could get a ticket for the tennis final it would almost be as good as getting to see Frankel
Huh Busselton? I've actually been there and didn't know it was there. But on my way to try a few scoops of vino in Margaret River. Missed out there.
Dibaba winning the 10,000 metres-wow! How impressive was that! It was like a Group One horse running against three Class 3 opponents- with a bunch of selling platers making up the field. Awesome!
Just heard an amazing stat. Kenya qualified 250 runners for the marathon. Only 3 get a run though. How strong are they then?
Wonderful stuff. Oscar Pistorius has cruised through the first round of the 400m. The crowd gave him fantastic support as he surged off the bend. Well done to the fans in the stadium.
Is that a restriction? Imagine all 250 taking part. They could just send a few on and block the path of all the others.
