That's true, I've been on a negotiations course through my work so should know better really. I recommend it if anyone ever gets a chance. Problem is we haven't got a front six of Busquets, Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva and Fabregas! I wouldn't be particularly bothered by our lack of strikers then! ;-)
I guess it's just getting the balance right. We don't want to do a Leeds or worse a Portsmouth. But we don't want to waste all the good work we have done over the last few years. Without signing a striker I honestly think we will struggle to make the top six and that is a depressing thought.
Dona's made some good points, and on here we all seem to have to think like levy, as we know exactly what he's like. - we're bloody used to it now! but at the same time, why should we even be talking about/contemplating playing arguably one of the best left sided players in the premiership, as a striker? how has it come to this? why can't we keep him as a left sided player like any other club would, and just buy a couple of actual strikers?? we shouldn't even be having to think like this. it's total madness. if we were to use him as a striker, then in theory, we've got to go out and replace bale. it's only one step down from selling him. - a very difficult replacement to find! I can't believe i'm even writing this, but i've no where near as optimistic as i was 3 weeks ago. and seeing bale wearing a number 9 shirt and all this talk is just alarmbells.com!!!
If anyone is actually considering we can improve on last season or function as a successful team with no reconsigned striker and converting a leftback/winger to a striker, then you need your head tested!
On the subject of Spurs & strikers, we're being linked to Defoe again, mainly by SkyBet, but it's something. Now, I couldn't see the lad moving North, personally, but I think he'd be a machine for us, potentially, similar to your last cast of, that ****ing dickhead Bent. You reckon he's likely to be flogged?

I agree that we can't think of playing Bale as a striker although I can see that he does have some of the attributes to do a good job there. defoe rumours seem to be doing the rounds, first qpr, now sunderland, it seems the people "ITK" decided because he left our tour and came home for tragic reasons that he would then be signing for another club and leaving us with harry kane to fire us into the champions league!

Yes sorry, I hadn't realised that we'd switched to national teams. My main concern is how lightweight we are of experienced strikers. One serious injury and we could well be up that well known creek, sans paddle?...I suppose we can only hope that something is pulled out of the hat in the next couple of weeks. Once again, it's far from ideal, new players having virtually no time to work there way in.
