Fantastic achievement for Wiggins, but the efforts of Froome, who has sacrificed his own chances to help him and still finished second, should also be recognised...Well done lads..<applause>

Any other year he would be a dead cert for BBC Sports Personality of the Year but probably won't get it because of the Olympics. Shame really because he will be the first Brit to ever win it once he rolls into Paris today. Well done Bradley Wiggins. How's about a medal to match the colour of your Jersey in the next couple of weeks!

This is an immense achievement. I've only started watching it in the last 2 or 3 years, and realised what sort of effort is needed here. Those mountains are torturous and for him to be always finishing just off the front in every stage is superb. And what a time trialist. Maybe he might return the favour to Froome next year.

I still think les Français will try a last gasp desperate measure to try to stop Bradley winning it. Anyone remember the French throwing stones at Tommy Simpson?

If they crashed him out they would all be thrown out of the race and BTW the French like him.

Because cycling is a gentlemanly sport. In fact, even if Wiggins was only trailed by a couple of seconds going into the last day, his opponent would probably agree not to try and beat him believe it or not, becuase the last day is traditionally a day for the sprinters to be centre of attention (well done Cavendish).

Isn't it the last day whoever is winning on the penultimate is the winner? As they all drink champers as they ride into Paris and down the Champs Ellseye(sp?)?

I was disqualified - but a moped is, technically speaking, a bike, right?

I love cycling, and do on average 100km a weekend round Perth. Only thing that ****s me is that every cyclist seems to think they are in the Tour or the Giro and wear their US Postal lycra while belting it down the freeway screaming at old people and pedestrians to move out the way.

The effort and endurance these boys have makes professional footballers look like a bunch of sisses. 90mins for a game of football? These guys spend hours in the saddle a day for a week straight...
