Good luck to him, i'm sure he'll build a side to take them straight back up next season. Would describe Brown as naive and a little foolish in the last year of his time here, he could have handled the situation better at times and drove us crazy with his decisions on and off the field. However, if i saw Brown in the pub i'd shake his hand and buy him a pint of Guiness.
 
I remember in about the October of the first PL season, we played Bolton at home and they were managerless from what I can remember. They really wanted browny but we were desperate for him to stay. I think what happened certainly tainted his spell at the club but he will rightly go down in history as being the manager to get us there.

Certainly interesting how much Preston fans think of him. The last post reckons if they keep him and Ian Hume they could be in the premier league in 4 years

He's definitely steadied the ship there and good luck to him, I hope he does well, but he's had a transfer window and 18 games now and he's still averaging less than a point a game, there's absolutely nothing to suggest he'd be at the top of the league had he had a full season.
 
Good luck to him no-one can ever take away the fact he got us to the PL.

I would rather see Scunny stay up though.
 
He's a decent manager who just got a bit swept away with our success and sometimes let his stubborn streak adversely affect team selection - I always felt that he was about as good as anyone who was really available for us a couple of years ago and would have preferred for him to have been retained for the end of our last season. However, I'm very impressed with the current management team and think that they are a definite step up.
I'm glad that the PNE fans are so appreciative of both Phil Brown and Ian Ashbee and, like the vast majority on here, wish them all the best for the future.

Still not convinced you can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. For all the good he did for us he ruined by bringing disrepute and scorn on our great City. A leopard never changes it's spots as time will inevitable show.

1. He was the first manager in 104 years to take Hull City to the Premier League
2. We were everyone's 'second team' for half of our first Premier League season
3. Under Phil Brown we only became unpopular with Stoke fans (because he saved his job by beating them), Arsenal fans (we became only the 2nd team to win at the Emirates) and Newcastle fans (he's a mackem - and oh yeah, we got them relegated.)

How Browny could have damaged the reputation of Hull is beyond me. In terms of the City he didn't affect its reputation, only with the above bone-idol fans. In terms of the club he enhanced its reputation by making us a Premier League team, and everything else that comes with that. It says alot that you're in a small minority when you disrespect Phil Brown like that
 
Too many people seem far too eager to trot out the mantra of a clueless media instead of appreciating what we really experienced over that period of our history.
 
I liked Brownie and will always appreciate what he did for the club.

That said I saw him on SSN being interviewed about some initiative regarding recognising and treating depression in young men.

He made no sense what so ever,he spoke utter nonsense.

I had to chuckle to myself.

Some things never change.
