Good point, but I can assure you, we won't be splashing out another price tag like that this Summer. That'll be our highest IMO. I don't think the comparison between ours and your spending should be involved as Sven bought a lot of players for a price tag like that and more.

 

Put it this way if Nigel had 15M to spend and spent the whole lot he would of got us one hell of a team not just 4 or 5 players like Sven did

I think I'm right in saying that only Beckford and Mills were more £2m or above. And considering we brought in quality like Nugent, Danns, Kasper, Peltier, Konchesky, St Ledger, and later, under Nige, Marshall and Morgan...your new player has cost more than all those.

And as you said, if this new signing is your only "big money" signing of the summer, either Bruce really rates your current squad - enough to blow the majority of the kitty on an unproven player - or this is a wasted opportunity to sign a proven player. He may work out, but it's a bit of a hit-and-hope from my point of view.

Let's put it this way, I'll be disappointed if Vardy ends up being our biggest signing of the summer.

 

Mills and Beckford cost us 6M and that was half of what Sven spent

 

We have a great base of a team, as proven from last Season, we had the 2nd best defense in the League and if any other player besides Koren and Fryatt could score, we would have been home and dry in the Play Offs Last Season.

Risking some money on another striker that has proven he can score goals and looks to have bags of confidence at only 25 Years old seems a good move. Even Jay Simpson has scored 4 in 2 games pre season including a hat trick.

There's also a rumour bobbing around that we're going for Ricardo Fuller, so Bruce is clearly improving the strike force. If we can keep the same defensive ethos and score goals, we'll be in contention all Season.

To say that we scored so few and managed to be in the Play Off battle all Season last Season, shows that we'll be focusing on transfer ins.

 

I'd be cautious on Fuller. Seems like a disruptive influence.

Again, let's not make the mistake that Proschwitz as played at a similar level to the Championship. He hasn't, as we have said repeated in this thread. Doesn't mean he can't make the step up, but he may not be able to, and for £2m, that's a gamble.

 

Nearly 3M for someone unproven is hell of a lot. Bruce cold live or die by this signing just like Sven did with Matt Mills
