I too think it's a good idea for a thread and like the idea of actually raising talking points rather than obvious things which we all agree on. Not that the obvious things should not be put on but it's refreshing to have a thread which prompts proper debate, a few talking points which can be debated properly is always good.

The few months I have been on here I noticed debate seems to turn to name calling, and to be fair it has again. It's not constructive replies, when this thread was opened it was amazing how many people jumped on Carrabuh's case. I think people judge a post by who's said it rather than the actual point. If someone else has written this thread it would have been a brilliant idea.

My take on it anyway.

i have absolutely no problem with carrabuh and i don't think anybody really does. i had long questioned why he hadn't come over to not606 because although i probably only agree with about a third of his posts, he at least writes interesting views. i do have an issue with his wording sometimes but i'm sure people do with mine too <ok>

Yeah I just think it's the way posts are belittled sometimes, not particularly you. What happened to constructive debate?

This is why you do not see me being very active on here these days. Totally fed up with the insults & abuse, if it's not QPR fans it's the Binners and if it's neither of them it's in-fighting and bickering - Ho hum.

The only thing I can say in defence, although it does not strictly make it the right thing to do is, it's a website for everyone to join and participate in. Shame a significant number of football fans cannot string a sentence together without lobbing insults etc. at fans of other teams.

To be fair mate I think it's amongst the Norwich fans as well. But as you say it's the binners as well! I think if someone disagrees people go defensive and start throwing the insults, that's where it starts normally.

The one thing that pisses me off about this forum is the number of posts that end up in a procession of name calling.
I think its one of the perils of todays communication tools, where what the writer intends to transmit and readers receives are two different things. Someone gets insulted, when an insult was not intended, or sarcasm or irony is misinterpreted.
The vast majority of posters are looking for a bit of banter, or healthy debate, some are good at it, others fail miserably.

I think we should all lighten up a bit, and enjoy not606 for what it is - a forum where anyone can open any subject and get some feedback. There are few subjects which are innappropriate and we can let our Mods deal with these. Otherwise 'boring' posts, contraversial posts, wumming, etc are all good - if you don't like a post or subject (because its too boring or a stream of insults then move on).

That's the problem. When people are losing a debate they resort to abuse. A good example of this is QPR fans on this forum.

While I agree with the sentiment, it all gets more than a little boring when it becomes virtually a daily occurrence.

I'm not saying its exclusively the QPR fan but they seem to do it a lot, agreed there are others on other boards that also abuse when they are losing a debate though.

What I fail to understand is, we all profess to support the same football team, we've just had a fantastic three year spell which may not be over yet, what the hell is there to fall out over?

Come one, group hug, feel the love!!

Now, open that vault and let's toast it with some of your finest malt. <ok>
