What happened to Alexei Sayle? At least some of the political comedians of that era moved into other areas, Ben Elton into novels, Coltrane into movies etc. But Alexei has disappeared.

Elton and Coltrane sold out - Ben Elton did so in the worst possible way, hideous man - whereas Sayle just seemed to slip right off our screens like you say. I think he mostly writes these days though I have seen him pop up on the box now and again, and I caught a bit of a documentary about animated communist propoganda movies on Sky Arts with him doing the voiceover a few weeks ago.
Back to the thread. I do not know why people got upset about the original post as a lot of what was said is fair comment especially the 5 specific points raised at the end. To be fair to our supporters those sort of points apply to a lot of fans at all clubs and it basically applies to the way the fans want the game played in this Country - that is why Spain have their national side playing the way they do and we have England. Whether this will now change following Spain's performance and the way Man City, Arsenal and Spurs played last year I do not know but I can already hear the ' whats wrong with our traditional game of a long ball and crosses to a big lump up front ' brigade howling in protest if their clubs try it. Will Liverpool get rid of Carroll and try and play a passing game - yes. Will Stoke try it - no. Can any of you see City line up next year without either Holt or Morrison up front - you tell me but I suspect that there are more of you thinking why can't we play both Holt and Morrison up front. Whats wrong with a back 3 of Bennett, Ayala and A N Other, Elliott Bennett and Tierney as wing backs, 4 more midfielders one of whom is Wes playing just behind Vaughan or Jackson?

Nigel Worthington is one of the greatest managers in our club's history and should never have been sacked.
- He took us from mid-table mediocrity to an exciting play-off final.
- He won a major trophy, with what I imagine is our highest ever points tally.
- After we went down we looked average with him as manager, an absolute shambles after he was sacked.
If we had kept him we would have remained an average team for a while, he would have rebuilt and gradually worked us back to the play-offs and then the title. We are lucky that Paul Lambert came along, because without him we would be looking back from League One and wishing we had kept Worthy.
100% agree, I was surprised he was involved as little as he was in the manager speculation earlier this year, I would have taken him in a heartbeat!

This site has people who think they are the "forum police" and if you post something they don't like, then they descend on you, get very abusive, and start to issue threats. Democratic is is not!!! They don't seem to have the social skills to construct a decent sensible counter argument without descending into abuse. If everything is a rosy as these people think then Norwich City FC would be top of the Premiership and playing Barcalona in the European Cup, there's a lot of improving to be done to maintain our current status, but mention it at your peril!!!
Like you I'm pretty bored with the place now, although I do keep an eye out for the decent gossip, transfers etc.
Got my tickets for the pre-season friendly's, so I think I'll just stick to going and supporting my team and forming my own opinions and keeping them to myself in future! Right or wrong they are my opinions and the forum preports to allow that, but it doesn't.

actually, it was more a case of ILD making a comment by myself out to be a personal dig. i never called him daft, i said the comment was. as is always the case with him, he wants the name calling, so i gave him it. to be honest, i wish he'd just piss off to the pinkun site where he would probably be more at home.

I too think it's a good idea for a thread and like the idea of actually raising talking points rather than obvious things which we all agree on. Not that the obvious things should not be put on but it's refreshing to have a thread which prompts proper debate, a few talking points which can be debated properly is always good.
The few months I have been on here I noticed debate seems to turn to name calling, and to be fair it has again. It's not constructive replies, when this thread was opened it was amazing how many people jumped on Carrabuh's case. I think people judge a post by who's said it rather than the actual point. If someone else has written this thread it would have been a brilliant idea.
My take on it anyway.
