I really don't think Russell Martin is that great. I really don't. I don't think he's good enough as a Premier League full back, not nearly. The one or two games he's done well there have been because Elliott Bennett has fully supported him and thus poor old Bennett has not taken any of the plaudits. I also don't think he's good enough as a Premier League centre-back. It's not his position. He's comfortable on the ball, yes. He's also relatively reliable. But he simply isn't anything special. He's too much an all rounder. I'm quite happy to have him on the bench if the worst comes to the worst and I think he did fantastically well to save us at times last season with all our injuries in defence, but I think that more often than not he simply makes life harder for those around him. I can't understand why people have suggested him as captain.

But that's just my point of view <ok>

I actually agree with you mate - or am I not allowed to do that on this thread?

I'm confused... :undecided:  :headbang:

Bennett - hurry scurry but workrate no substitute for skill. A poor man's Walcott.
Pilkington - low rent Ronaldo wanna-be showpony. Should cross/pass more and try to be the hero less. Oh, and is alreading looking for his Big Move away.
Wes - even a geriatric Italian in charge of a third-rate international side has sussed that the Carrow Road hype disguises a lightweight makeweight.
Holt - everyone from Ipswich and all those who only ever watch MOTD are spot on. He's a league one standard clogger.
Morison - not interested. Lazy. Selfish. Sulky. Disruptive. Evil.

We must buy PREMIER LEAGUE EXPERIENCE as soon as possible. Expense should not be a consideration.

<Nurse! The screens...!!>

I would agree and say it's a good idea for a thread but get the feeling Carrabuh won't approve of my agreement.... <whistle>

My two points are

Morison - It's been debated out on here already, so probably move on to....

Ryan Bennett - In my opinion has been a bit too over hyped by ALOT of Norwich fans. Think he looks good and has a bright future but think he will be in and out the team next year and didn't impress me as much as other Norwich fans last year.

Also to disagree with comments above, I think Russell Martin is a better centreback at the moment than Bennett. I think he has actually been a lot better there than fullback and should be considered as a centre back after this season.

I also think is Jackson added goals to our game he would be out best striker. He has been fantastic whenever he has played this season in my opinion.

Finally. I won't be disappointed if the Whittaker deal doesn't go through, I have a hunch it will be a bad signing. After looking into him and thinking about it, I think he will be another Otsemobor.

I am all for controversy, once made a comment about Swansea on here and was attacked on all sides. We all have our opinions, I certainly have mine about Wes but on the whole nothing to complain about. I am optimistic about next season, we have no trouble scoring goals, just need to tighten up at the back and we will be fine.
Agree with YellowLittle about Whittaker but hopefully will be proved wrong.
As for second season syndrome, we have a different manager( and a good one) so hopefully we will be an enigma:emoticon-0116-evilg
If you want to be devils advocate fine but do it with a little imagination<party>

The best thing that could possibly have happened to NCFC at the end of last season was Paul Lambert leaving. I mean it.

I can say something controversial

WE WILL QUALIFY FOR EUROPE UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF Mr HEWTUN !

GRANT HOLT WILL SCORE MORE GOALS THAN ANDY CARROLL AND TORRES AGAIN (and still he wont get in the England squad!)

I agree to an extent about Martin BUT if you took all of his brilliant saves/clearances away where would be now, someone work it out <ok>

To disagree with a couple of earlier posts:

1. I do rate R Martin as a centre half but not so much as a RB
2. C Martin will never cut it at Premiership level and we should just cash in
3. S Jackson should be retained and given another season to prove himself - I think that he has the potential to be a decent player (if we could graft CM's finishing onto his pace and movement we would have a top player - calling Dr Frankenstein)
4. Wes is a good Chamionship player but not quite up to running a game in the Premier League.

I also think that Elliot Bennett is possible the best RB we have on our books and could develop into a brilliant attacking full back.

Despite trying I don't feel that I have been overly controlversial. Sorry chaps.

The OP -- as I see it -- is a cri de coeur for some originality and lateral-style thinking. I have no quarrel with that at all. It's not a matter of disagreement for disagreement's sake; more a question of enhancing our collective understandings by putting a different perspective on things. Calling League One players "monkeys" (with its implicit comparison with "homo sapiens"), is a way of saying that the divide between the Championship and League One is not just of degree but of kind and a caution against mistaking a talented monkey for a still-to-develop-fully human being. Agree with it or not, that's my gloss on it anyway! <badger> (nearest I could get to a monkey emoticon!)

Who was your favourite character in The Young Ones?
Carrabuh would obviously choose Vivian. Mine was Mike.
