Of course I meant a bargain relatively! If we signed Llorente or Damiao they'd probably want a similar wage packet but would cost 20m+. The only downside of Ade is his re-sale value, or lack of.
Ade is a done deal too. Like I said: £5m fee, £5m signing on fee, £100,000+ a week wages. Announcement will not be until next weekend though I'd imagine, as there's still a few small things to iron out.
Ade is 100% done. Announcement should be sooner than next weekend from what I've been told as Spurs wanted him and Verts before training started tomorrow (was told to expect it this weekend but can't see it happening now tbh). I don't get told the fee and details though, is it really £5m? Great price if true.
From what I understand, it is £5m yes. Man City originally wanted more, but we basically said because of his wage demands, we wanted a lower fee in order for us to be able to sign him. Basically, we've benefited from Man City's requirement to get him off their wage bill, and the fact we are the only club he is interested in.
Really don't know why it's not been announced yet though in all seriousness. Was told roughly 2 weeks ago he'd signed. Weird seeing as every other bit of info I've had was pretty much spot on.
SSN reports that agreement with City has been reached. Presumably, personal terms have been sorted already? I hope so. I think it's great news, i've always rated him, and I think we've probably got a bargain for a player of his calibre.
I think given the personal terms were bound to be difficult to arrange, that would have been agreed before talking to City. Pointless even talking to City, unless we knew a package could be agreed with the player, surely.
On the beeb now. Brilliant signing. If the fees being quoted are true then a bargain also. This signing was especially important as we don't want too much upheaval as we wanna hit the ground running. Hopefully just a straigt swap of Verts for King/other and NEW MIDFIELDER for Modders.
Our feeling good factor is riding very high atm. Expectations rising, pressure rising, most exciting close season for some time. Spurs acting in a very professional manner, players coming in, just have to make it happen on the grass now.
This and the Verthongen signing were the ones I really wanted... we are now set for the year defensively and goals wise. Everything else is a bonus ie sigurdson and lloris.
I still think that we desperately need more cover up front and on the wings. A player who could play in both these positions (Sturridge, for example) would be ideal.
Agreed. He would be perfect. He may wish to play in a more central role, but you can't argue with his early season form under AVB. Think he would be a good partner for Ade on the right with lennon as a sub or used in games to spread the play. Someone that scores more on the right than lennon does is essential for AVB's plan though so another signing is likely. (unless he feels defoe can do the hulk/sturridge role?)
so Moutinhio in..if Modric out and we are happy for this window? p.s to any of the mods...my 'rival watch thread must be deserving of 'sticky' status by now??
One thing that comes to mind is there was plenty of talk about youth from Levy and AVB, but - Fryers aside - no prospects have come in. We could make something of Coulibaly, Luongo, Smith and Ceballos being in the kit photo - if not for the fact Caulker, Kane and Falque aren't, for whatever reason - but I wouldn't be surprised if we did sign one or two players for the future, Uvini being one name that springs to mind, by the end of the window.
do you think they will be starters or squad players? i would like to see a few youngstrs thrown in at the deep end..would be intresting.
