Wher did this rumour come from in the beginning? It seems everybody is arguing over a rumour. Think on: SB got Jakupovic when he'd gone for trials with the Tractor boys and we all thought the 'deal' (Barmby's) had fallen through/lapsed. He got Ben Amos when we were all chuntering about Keane and Tunnicliffe.
Heskey? Who knows...Elmohamady?....Meyler?...who has a clue?

I'm not getting worked up I just don't get why this thread is so big if it's just a rumour... SB confirmed interest but I don't really want my fellow fans to be expecting too much from this and instead move on to more realistic transfers..

I just think Bruce is casting his net very wide. Being linked with lots of players creates a bit of a buzz about the club and plants the seed in players minds that we are ambitious. It all helps.
I've said repeatedly in this thread that I don't have much of an opinion one way or another regarding him signing. You're the one who's asked for this thread to be closed - which is what I really don't get.
You've quoted a particularly biased local German paper, and from that have stated that he is definitely not coming. I've said wait and see. I don't know the first thing about him. what I do know is that he is one of the few players we have been openly linked to, and so I'm happily chatting about the speculation. The only reason I'm sticking my ebb in is that I speak German and can seem quite clever on this thread, instead of my usual clueless pleb...
I would imagine this thread will die a natural death once he's moved somewhere and we've all stopped arguing...
Nick Proschwitz and his agent are flying out to Portugal to discuss £2m move with SB this afternoon. I'm suprised we are spending this much on him
As he's possibly about to become our most expensive signing since Hunt in 2009, I think the length of this thread is probably fully justified.
I hope the signing is justified, assuming it's true....!!

Good strikers don't come cheap these days, and if he does turn out to be a hit, it will be a good deal.
Nah, I read that on CI last month. The video on the link doesn't suggest he's much of a target man (although it was showing his goals rather than his assists) and there weren't too many headers in there.
Still, if he's what the gaffer thinks we need, then fair enough.

I kind of laughed when I came downstairs and read the back of the paper this morning. 2 Million is a lot of moolah for Hull City. Whilst being excited, spending 2 million makes me fell a little trepidation and obviously harks back to Duffenesque spending. I'm hoping they've got it wrong and its 2 million euros. Anyway Bruce by all accounts was interested in the kid whilst at Sunderland, which means he obviously thought he had the potential to play top flight football for a mid table team, which is encouraging.
Although this thread is about Nick Proschwitz I suppose this is another statement of intent by the Allams. I know OLM and Premier Tiger were aware of the goings on before Barmby's departure. But are the Allams not fulfilling Barmby's call for financial backing and a continuation of a promotion push? Maybe they for whatever reason decided Barmby was not the man to be gifted with a large volume of transfer funds, but instead they needed a much more experienced manager. We can only speculate on what Barmby would have done (other than get King back on loan and tried to get Mannone + get Jackupovic). I suppose they took a business decision on how to get the most value out of the transfer funds available. However i'm not dismissing the fact that they treated Barmby differently to Bruce and i'm not justifying it. I suppose I'm just trying to work out why they did what they did.

Well it seems we have saved up to £750,000 by not going for Mannone (allowing for the £250,000 on Amos).
O/T. I'm also quite curious about that fee paid for Amos. I don't remember seeing any other examples of 'loan fees' in the past. I wonder whether it could be some sort of down-payment giving us an option to sign him next season.
The thing is the most urgent need we have is for a striker.
Strikers are the most expensive position to fill, so uless you are going to do a hail Mary on a lower league player, like Leicesteristan have with Vardy, then you are going to have to spend money. Look at how much Southampton have just paid for Jay Rodriguez and he's never played in the Prem.
I have no idea whether this Proschwitz will succeed with us or not, but I don't think £2m is an ureasonable fee. He currently plays, and is a success, in the German second tier which is equivalent to the Championship and he is being scouted by Bundesliga clubs.
This is the kind of situation where we have to trust the manager and support the player and try our hardest not to sing the German Bombers song or mention the war (Damn I just did, didn't I? Still I think I got away with it!!)

We can't always live in fear of that. We've spent very little for the past year having spent 4 or 5 million in 6 months on Fryatt, McLean, Stewart, Hobbs, Chester, Dudgeon & Evans. There's obviously going to be a little bit of a pot of money. As long as the club continues to be run well, doesn't overstretch on wages and has players who are assets (which we have), then we can afford a couple of quid here and there.
