Sorry off topic (becoming a thing lately) eminem probably one of the best musical geniuses alive. Has he got a new album out?
This'll be closed in the morning I reckon. Wikipedia tells me that no, he does not have a new album out. I also wouldn't refer to any rapper as a "musical genius". They tend not to write their own music. Lyricist maybe. Have fun being yelled at by the off-topic police.
Eminem's older stuff is genius, but some of his new stuff has been made for masses and turned into "pop" music. Eminem writes his own songs though,he is much better than crap rappers like Drake,Lil Wayne .
Its not my type of music admittedly (or not anymore anyway, did used to enjoy his albums) but for you to say he isn't a musical genius is a bit odd. Anyone who has achieved what he has in the musical industry should be considered as a 'musical genius'. There aren't many people alive today that are more successful than him, all he needs to do now is die and he will be considered as one of the greats And also on a side note, he does write his own music
Doesn't Dr. Dre produce a lot of his stuff? Also a lot of his singles (that I know of, I'm hardly a fan) sample songs from other bands, e.g. Aerosmith, Dido, Martika. I agree though, what I've heard of his new music seems pretty poor. What made him think he could sing? So "genius" is determined by success? Madonna certainly is no genius. Rihanna is incredibly successful and I know for a fact that she doesn't write any of her music. And what about Bieber?
While it's open, I may as well offer my two pennies... I think quite the opposite, that his newer stuff is much better than the crap he rapped about before...
No.Dr Dre produces the beats for his songs, and he produces beats for other artists around the world as well.Well he did a song with Dido, don't know about Aerosmith and Martika. He writes all of his songs.
He probably doesn't. He probably writes his own lyrics though. His publicity and marketing guys are definitely geniuses.
Well if Dre produces the beats, then what's left for Eminem to produce? Just the lyrics surely? "Stan" wasn't a collaboration with Dido, it was originally just a Dido song which Eminem later sampled. The music for "Sing for the Moment" is all from "Dream On" by Aerosmith, and Martika wrote "Like Toy Soldiers". I don't know many more of his songs to be honest.
Well I was more saying a continued success which he has been for way over 10 years, can't think of many people who have sold more albums or got more multi-platinums than him. And to a certain degree success does make you one of the greats, tell me when madonna dies, people won't be saying how amazing she was. I don't like her music but thats not what its about is it And also he did bring the rap genre to a far bigger crowd than it was before and not many artists have made a genre so huge It was my understanding that he actually did but I maybe incorrrect You can say that again
I didn't know sing for the moment was Aerosmith. I knew the other two were though, can't think of any other
The following have sold more albums than Eminem: The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Queen, ABBA, Pink Floyd, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Bee Gees, Whitney Houston, U2, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, Genesis, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, David Bowie, Backstreet Boys, Bon Jovi, Garth Brooks, Chicago, Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Britney Spears, Neil Diamond, Guns 'N' Roses, Prince, Kenny Rogers, Julio Iglesias, Janet Jackson, George Michael, The Carpenters, Bryan Adams, Cher, Lionel Richie, Olivia Newton-John, Tina Turner, KISS, Depeche Mode, The Who, Johnny Hallyday, Paul McCartney, Barry White, Luciano Pavarotti, Scorpions, Dolly Parton, Rihanna, Shania Twain. People always gain a sort of temporary "legend" status after they die, but they're not often remembered that way in the long run. Whitney Houston is a recent example, but she'll be forgotten before long, because at the end of the day, she was crap. Genius has nothing to do with reputation. You could be totally unheard of and still be a genius.
Just so you can appreciate just how much of that song was Aerosmith's work. I'm pretty sure Eminem just added vocals, and possibly a little added bass:
All Eminem has achieved is making it respectable for white folk to like hip-hop in America again. His lyrics are at best, quirky, but for me he tries to hard to be a sensationalist. In terms of ability there are much better caucasion hip-hop artists, even from this country. Have a listen to Jehst, Skinnyman and go from there...
Just because you're not a fan it doesn't make them 'crap'. Houston was an extremely talented singer before the drugs took hold. I do agree that legend and genius are banded about with Vernon Kay style regularity. Hip hop is often undervalued musically because of its use of samples and computers, but it still takes talent and a good ear to produce a good record. Often a lot of snobbery from the instrument brigade.
