You dont have to register a full 25 or you can just register a player which is u21

correct, the 25man is maximum and the real rule is not a minimum of 8 hg but actually a maximum of 17 non homegrown players

I could in theory buy 17 world class foreigners and register them, zero hg and comply with the rules.

With that being tongue in cheek, I can seriously see us going for a Dempsey or someone to help build the market over here. Summer tour, fresh new signing Dempsey to lead the headlines of Liverpool's tour, the new TV program, etc. I like Dempsey and think he can help and has a fighters attitude of hating to lose, wants to be there, etc.

But at the same time I don't want to lose out to a Ramirez or Jovetic to land Dempsey. But I can see it.

Also on that note, Jovetic should have been bought years ago under Rafa but instead we got Aqua, ****.

It's a shame that at the end of the day our issues with Aqua were off-field rather than on-field, I still think he is a good player, he's put his injuries behind him and he would do a good job for us. Shame that he is an ungrateful so and so and is pushing us to release him from his contract

Let's say we get Ramirez and Aqua stayed. You could have

    Lucas---Aqua/Gerrard

    ---Ramirez/Gerrard-----

That would be pretty formidable I think and would be much stronger than what we had last year.

I'd imagine that Liverpool, along with other clubs are at the very least scouting these players.

You don't need 8 homegrown players in the squad.

This. The whole point of the rule is to promote home grown talent development.

Just thinking, if Suso makes it, by the required age, he'll be 'homegrown', won't he? Practically in Spain, Liverpool.

Where as Owen Hargreaves would not count.

Hargreaves could have played for Canada or Germany.

suso will be homegorwn but only needs to be registered in about 4 years time! I hope we are going to register him in that time and he's a "wunderkind"

god knows for lfc to propser sterling and suso have to play left and right and be the worlds best young players for WC2014

  18. Correct you don't have to register 25, but it is the eight 'home grown' bit that is the problem. Also correct that you can name an under 21, IF they have been trained by an English or Welsh club for at least three years AFTER their sixteenth birthday <ok>

    #438
  19. Incorrect. It is a minimum of eight home grown players with a maximum of twenty-five players over the age of twenty-one.

You can play as many players under twenty-one as you like <ok>

    #439
  20. Correct, as would Sterling but neither need to be registered because of their age but could be if it helps meet the eight requirement <ok>
