Everton signed Steven Naismith on a free transfer today. Making him one of their most expensive signings. <ok>

<laugh>

What do you think about Clint Dempsey?

Now Sig has moved, logic (and the press) will dictate that he is in our sights once more.

I think there's a real chance - we have American owners, with an American brand and an American market (and also Warrior). He'd be a great commercial and footballing signing.

Managed to get this off the Newcastle board .. In it they talk about how Luuk De Jong is a "no no" as they aren't willing to stump up the 10m they're asking for. De jong wants to leave Twente and I wouldn't say no if he signed for us. Come on Luuk, come to Anfield <ok>

Edit: they say he's likely to go to Germany, but with the right price he may change his mind.

Think he's a bit over-rated... and probably going to Dortmund or Monchengladbach. His transfer could hinge on whether Lewandowski leaves Dortmund.

I'd have loved Dempsey about three or four years ago, he is 29 (i think) now so a bit too old unfortunately <ok>

Yeh it says that - just think for 10m (ish) and with the amount of chances created last season he'd bang them in do us.

Ramirez, Vargas, Sow ( similar type of forward with power and pace for about 10 mil), strootman/defour would be some names I would like to see us linked to or really looking at.

Attainable as well, maybe even Nilmar from recently relegated Villareal?

Apparently there is real interest in Vargas and then there's the Ramirez-gate-saga-story... Both good acquisitions I think.

Defour I haven't really kept up with... He went from being coveted by United to playing in Portugal didn't he? Is he up to it?

Look at this, from the Arsenal board.

Let us put it all into perspective and find the bright side.

RVP might have continued spending his seasons on a treatment table, playing 3-5 months a year, scoring 7-8 goals, and finally we would have to part with him anyway. We might even get 3 or 4 ml for the crock. But lo and behold GlassPersie stayed fit for a year and a half, had a fantastic season and the timing is perfect. We can offload him now and get 20+ ml - enough to invest in two decent players. We got him for peanuts, used him to save a critical season and will earn a small fortune selling the guy. We should be happy really.

Fickle? Did someone say fickle?

PS I'd like Nilmar, if only for FIFA 13 reasons <laugh>

It's starting to look like a tipicle Lfc summer! At least last year we knew who we wanted and signed them even if they didn't work out.
The problem we've always had is we go in for the better players but there always waiting for a better deal from a club with more buying power.
I don't think our core squad is to bad but we need to make some decent signings this summer or we could be going backwards again!

There is some solace.

Look at the spine of our squad - Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez. That's pretty strong.

Reina - relatively low profile signing
Agger - complete unknown, great Rafa signing
Skrtel - complete unknown
Lucas - relatively low profile, although was Brazilian Serie A player of the year.
Gerrard - youth team
Suarez - high profile signing

See what I mean? We're owed another good surprise!

Looking at the photos of the squad back for preseason, Aquilani isn't there. Rumour is he didn't turn up. Might have sprained his wrist driving there I guess.

Italian newspapers saying talks have began with Bologna.

Wouldn't be a bad addition at all and probably has higher potential than Elm...

Borussia Dortmund aren't panicking over the contract status of midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz.

The young Germany international is tied to Dortmund until 2014 and has expressed an ambition to play in England.

"We're under no pressure," said BVB chief Michael Zorc.

Grosskreutz has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool and he said: "Everyone knows I'm a big fan of England.

"To play with Shinji (Kagawa) in the Premier League would be huge."

The youngster has been linked with Liverpool and added: "That was an honour."

Still would like to see some more pace down the wings and another attacking option but I feel ( and Rodgers has stated) that everything is being down hush hush.
