The very worst thing about this situation is that Johnstone intentionally led the Kilmarnock fans on to believe that he would vote no. He did this quite deliberately, in my opinion, in order to sell season tickets to fans who thought their chairman would vote as they had encouraged him to do so.

It was deceitful and underhand I hope the Killie fans are successful in their drive to get rid of him.

I really hope though that Celtic fans do not boycott the games at Rugby Park. Leave the Killie fans to sort him out.

Problem is some people saw the No vote yesterday so bought season tickets, only now finding out that we specifically didnt vote! The chat on Killie forums and with the Killie trust is to try and have days of "Action" rather than innaction ie everyone buy somethig from the club on a specific day - so showing support for the club but do it on that day to show want MJ out. Not sure thats going to work if im honest, only way to get him to listen is to restrict his finances but will see how it goes.

Why did he even bother getting the Killie season ticket holders / shareholder views if he was then to ignore them! On the Killie FC fansite over 90% said NO, I imagine season ticket holders views would be a big proportion of that figure.

And amen to that.

I was going to say something moving and uplifting like “what a momentous day, a seismic event” etc…..but how diminished are we become if a simple application of the rules might be hailed as being momentous? Deary me. (Kilmarnock’s abstention was a disgrace and I’ll seriously kick **** out of any Killie fan I see on the internet today, yeah.)

Purists may also quibble at your inclusion of the word “an” in that sentence, wondering if the more straightforward and confident-sounding “leaving abstain on their character” might better meet punning requirements. Certainly, all the purists I’ve raised this issue with assure me they’d like to see these changes effected, but I have no particular view either way. Frankly, I feel an apology would be more than sufficient and that it’s time we put this tiresome mess behind us and moved on. I honestly start to wonder if people - mainly purists - have nothing better to do with their time than look for needling points of conflict inside the internet dotcom bubble highway.

cant wait to hear his analysis on this one. Would have rather he had the balls and said " weve listened to the fans, but decided rangers bring more money than the fans so for financial reasons voting yes to newco" no instead he just sits there and doesnt vote like a muppit. Hasnt even given a reason yet as to why he abstained. This may have just cost him a fortune is season ticket sales that fans would have bought to support the club for having the balls to stand for the right thing, but no we get this.

Do you reckon he'll be hounded out of the club? I know what you mean, a declaration either way would be more palatable than simply failing to vote. It makes him look incredibly weak and compromised. I wonder what was going through his head? I've been wondering this for quite a while, however.

Maybe he'll come out with a forceful statement explaining his actions and we'll all go "okay, fair enough" - who knows? To date, however, he's given every impression of being a man who is incapable of seeing the bigger picture as he's too busy gasping with fear at the balance sheet. I'm left wondering what kind of society he wants to live in?

Which lessens the options, obviously, and leaves a boycott looking like the best way to achieve an outcome. It could get very, very tense.

The largest travelling support would be Celtic so it would make sense for it to be that day. Just once to see the fall out. Play the match to an empty stadium?

And a pretty good idea, at that. The symbolism of an empty stadium would be fairly potent. It's going to require pretty huge levels of co-ordination, right enough, but one of the good things about this whole poison mess is the dialogue that has broken out between the fans. I'm a sucker for harmony. Love that stuff.

I'll stay away from Rugby Park when Celtic visit - in solidarity.

I feel it's a bit lop sided though, not a single hun has contributed - and I feel myself thinking of hunnish points to counter balance the argument, just to play a bit of devil's advocate.

For instance Rangers owned an SPL place, they earned that SPL place through 100 and whatever years of playing football there (leaving aside the ongoing trial over double contracts) - could this placement not be considered an asset in it's own right? - Certainly looking at the details of the deal to transfer Rangers assets to Sevco the SPL place was listed as an asset. There is also previous for a club buying another club's place in a league á la Airdrie United buying Clydebank's place.

So were the integrity scales so incredibly lopsided towards a newco starting in Division 3, as it seems to be from the strong opinions expressed on this thread - or is it just that most of us were in no mood to give new Rangers the benefit of any integrity doubt?

Ah, thank God for you, Tina.

It feels empowering and even faintly arousing (in a non-specific “I suddenly want to rub up against that boy’s leg and maybe do a bit of pee – what’s happening to me, Mummy, I’m scared?” kind of way) to have one’s efforts lauded in such an uplifting (and perfectly justifiable) manner.

But where have you been?

Apart from in the last day or so, I’ve not seen you post anywhere on this site for ages. What’s that all about? (Unless you were one of those people who changed their name, of course – there seems to have been a spate of it – in which case my mistake is understandable and not to be held against me. I no longer know who anyone is – and I include myself in this observation, even though I never changed my name.

It’s a lovely thought, Toiler, although I’ve never seen any evidence to back up this wholly fetching idea. Welcome to the Aberdeen board, Administrator.

This must be a bit like when the queen visits an impoverished daycare centre in the industrial north of Rule Brittania. Exactly like that, in fact.

Under my supervision, Johnny Rep and ER have been painting the Aberdeen forum through the night, stocking up the club shop, making sure everything is just so. You’ll be left with an impression that these provincial, salt of the earth types live pretty well, considering, and take great pride in their community and that our poverty has somehow given us deepening dignity and incalculable reserves of strength – as well as a heightened awareness of the importance of education (as evidenced by the exhaustingly intellectual nature of our discussions here). You’ll go back to your Celtic Park Palace and wonder what all the fuss was about, everything’s just tickety-boo.

With Rangers fans not set to visit these boards for at least another four years, however, we’re struggling to make ends meet and I feel obliged to report that we’re dying here, your Majesty, and need all the help we can get. Every word you spend on the Aberdeen board helps keep the place going. My answers may always seem irritatingly prolonged and meandering, sure, but I only talk so much because I’m selfless and because I care. Give, give, give. It’s all I ever do.

As to some of the things you actually said during your visit…..we’ll see. If nobody else attempts to respond, then I’ll not be able to resist doing so. I refuse to get drawn into anything at the moment, however, until I’ve responded to something Rebelbhoy said to me elsewhere (weeks and weeks ago now) or I’ll end up all over the shop. All good points, however, although, at a glance, I’m not sure I necessarily agree with any of them.
