Seems strange, I was wondering why we hadn't sorted this out. If he has just made a choice then fine, if it is us dragging our heels or not offering enough then I would be pissed off.

How much is enough? He's 22 for **** sake .. He's a good player but he hardly set the premiership alight .. -.-

Modric is clearly going to leave so i assume he's Modric's replacement in that case. There is also a feeling VDV may be going.

Either way there's been absolutely no news really so don't understand why people get their panties in a twist.

That Ben Smith has been slammed by another journo for simply repeating other people's news as his own.

Sigurdsson's dad apparently told a radio station this morning nothing has been decided.

There's no way if Rodgers wants him we cannot match what Spurs offer him in wages, we do however have a major advantage in knowing exactly what he's worth as Rodgers has managed him before. I'd only be worried if we did go all out and didn't get him but then i can't see that happening. We're in the same competition as Spurs who are shifting important player(s) and have just gotten rid of their manager, whereas we have what some people have basically said is a father figure to him. That's not a slur on Spurs either its just how i see it, and it'd be the same the other way around.

He never played that deep for Swansea so I'd be surprised if he was signed as Modric's replacement unless we change our system. It does seem strange that we'd sign someone like him without a manager or even DoF but I guess the appeal of a good price and another club about to sign him forced Levy to make a decision.

Duncan Jenkins, twitter phenomenon and Liverpool ITK, has said Liverpool have been surprised by the size of Spurs' offer. Guess we'll see if Liverpool want to match it.

He also says the chase isn't over.

Why should we match what they're offering...??? We will make (or have made) an offer we think is suitable. If he wants to follow the money then I'd rather he didn't join <ok>

Definitely this <ok> .. If he wants to join for a reasonable fee then great but if we have to match they spurs offer then no thanks .. If BR thinks he's worth it then maybe she should offer what Spurs are offering but if we can get someone better then I'd definitely want to try and get someone better.

I'd look at it slightly differently; if Rodgers thinks he would make then difference then match or better their offer. Otherwise, **** him <ok>

I don't want us to offer him silly money, I just thought that if we wanted him we should have gone all out and sorted it by now.

You would have thought so wouldn't you. It's just like the good old Rick Parry days...<whistle>

While appearances are deceptive it does seem like we've been seducing him for 3 weeks & Spurs have taken him to dinner & fecked him in 3 days.

Let's hope this isn't the glorious new strategy in action & just a "if we could get him cheap, give it a go, don't get him mweh" type of situation!

I don't want too either but clearly Spurs are, if he really wanted to sign for us then he would have. If he does sign for Spurs then all this "I want to sign because of Rodgers" has been bullshit ..

.. Sorry, I'm a bit pissed off now. <laugh>

Like Joe Cole, who you chucked money at? Lets face it, money matters to all players so there's no point deriding others for chasing money when there's players in every team that have transferred for a bigger wage.

Given the games Sigurdsson played against Liverpool and Spurs, it's not unreasonable that he considers us a better option anyway. He might have faith in your manager but looking at the squad it's still a long way off being the kind of side Rodgers had at Swansea. Maybe if you'd already signed 3 or 4 exciting new players and got rid of players like Adam, Downing, etc then you'd be more appealing.

I never wanted Joe Cole and I wish you guys had offered more than us <ok>

Fair points on the club comparisons too <ok>

I wasn't questioning the players motives, that is up to the individuals. I am saying if we have offered what we think he is worth then we shouldn't be upping it because someone else is offering more unless the manager thinks that player will make the big difference and really REALLY wants him.

Edit: until a deal is announced (preferably by Dave Whelan <whistle> then I will ignore most media rumours etc. It could just be his agent trying to get him a better deal <ok>

"Liverpool look likely to miss out on one of their principal transfer targets." principal?? If sig is our main target then our owners can **** off! I'm annoyed at the way he's whored himself around (twitter) but as Hazard has shown it seems to be the norm now.
