Spare me the, it was legal, you'd have done the same excuses. His personality is that of a cheat. He doesn't want to pay his share. I do. I am happy to pay my taxes. I was educated to a high standard for free. I receive regular hospital treatment for prostate cancer for free. I will receive a pension in 3 years when I retire. Because of taxation. Direct and indirect. Mine is taken at source because I am an employee. My wife is self employed but pays her whack regularly at the end of January. Taxation is decided at a percentage based on earnings. Two years ago Philip Green paid **** all in tax on earnings of £1.1 billion because he legally could avoid doing so. He is a ****ing cheat who I would gladly imprison on moral grounds. More money is lost to the country by tax avoidance than all the benefit bludgers put together.
If we had just one universal tax rate set at 25% and abolish NI contributions, the treasury would bring in far much more money then does now and it would stimulate more demand in the economy, increase growth and actuallay allow more businesses to employ people! Simples!
The point is the tax rules has loopholes, if they are removed there would be no getting around paying tax. And face it you use an accountant to lesson your tax burden, that is what they are for.
An incorporated company is a separate legal entity corporation tax is not an excuse for avoiding income tax though and so what if someone employs 1000s of people you still pay tax on your income, end of! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Quite true and any Billionaire worth his salt is going to take every legal loophole available to avoid paying any more than he has to!
His company pays corporation tax. He avoids paying income tax. And why have a tax rate of 25% so people on lower incomes pay more and those on higher pay less? The banks can stimulate the economy by lending to smaller businesses at lower rates of interest but have no intention of doing so. Its far easier to charge 5% on safe loans and mortgages and pay savers bugger all thus achieving massive profits by doing sweet FA.
Just one last comment from me on this subject. I feel quite depressed that there are so many people in this country that love the politics of envy! If someone has made a shed load of money and created wealth for themselves and some for the country then I say well done! I am sick of people who cry all the time about how the rich must always pay more! If they concentrated more on bettering themselves things in this country would be a hell of a lot better!
Yep fully agree with this, can't see people bitching about Richard Branson and Alan Sugar or the guys on Dragons Den who are all multi millionaires, is it because they are celebrities as well as entrepreneurs that they are looked up at ? There is something wrong with society when they in general look at successful people and say such things as, the rich get richer, they have done it on the backs of poor people, they have conned people and so on. There is nothing wrong with money or having it, how many do the lotto hoping it is you ?
I know, but there is a conception in our society that the more wealth you have, the better person you are, and that just gets up my nose. I personally have no problems with who has what. I do have a problem with unfairness. I read that with this K2 scheme, you could earn up to £268,000 and pay £3,000pa. People who work damn hard and earn £25,000 pays more than that. That's why I agree with your post about the 25% level of tax for everyone, not just for the benefits it would bring financially, but that it would make things much fairer, and I think would get more people buying into the 'we're in this together' message.
I don't quite get this "Politics of Envy" line.I live in a lovely house situated in an idyllic spot. The wife has a nice car although I drive a forty year old one out of choice. If we want to eat out,go on holiday etc we can afford it.So what exactly am I envious of? I think it is the hypocrisy that offends me most. The main exponents of that however are not comedians (well not officially)but the members of this hopelessly inept coaltion government.I was never a fan of Brown but the current incumbent makes him look like a genius. What is amusing me is the positive effect this is having on Jimmy Carr's career.Im tempted to go to see him myself.
There's nothing wrong with having money, there's nothing wrong with being a success. Neither of those 2 things excuse a person from their moral and social obligations and in some ways increases them. With great power (money) comes great responsibility Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Indeed it is well done, and the tax they pay will enable others who wish to emulate them the same chance. In addition, did this person build the entire infrastructure to allow him/her to make this money? Did they build the roads, house the polpulace, make them well enough to sell to, train his workforce, provide law and order? There are too many self made millionaires who think it is solely an individual thing, the rest of us have paid to give them the platform and structure to do so. They should be thankful that they were lucky enough to be born somewhere which gave them the chance and stop bleating that they have to give a some back (and still remain wealthy regardless).
I wish people would stop pretending that they would turn down an opportunity to pay less tax if it were legal! Sent from my Android using Tapatalk
This politics of envy gets right up my considerable nose. Its a Tory statement to counter the Politics of Greed thrust. A survey was done on people who were protesting about the imposition of University fees and the level of £9,000 they were set at. The majority who were moaning had sent their offspring into private education in the first place and were paying more a year in secondary education than they would be in further education. Try getting into OxBridge if your parents income is below a certain level or your father doesn't have a title. Money has become the new measure of a persons importance in this country. No-one is envious. They just want them to pay a fair whack just the same as everyone else.
