I am absolutely shocked at this news.

I met Alan about 5 years ago when he was Assistant Manager to Gary Waddock. Met him in Heathrow when I was on my way back to Dublin after a match at LR. His wife was from Coolock in Dublin and he was on his way over to meet her. When he heard I was a season ticket holder who travelled over for every match he was impressed and invited me into the dressing rooms to meet the players before the next home match. He gave me his phone number and asked me to rang him to arrange it. Meet you at the main entrance on Loftus Road he said. I turned up with a gang of 6 family members to get the grand tour of the dressing rooms and to meet the players. He was shocked when he saw so many of us standing there but smiled and said no problem, come on in. He introduced me and all my gang to the players and to Gary Waddock.

It was a great thrill for me and all my family and it was very kind of Macca to do what he did, especially when such a gang turned up. The point in me sharing this story is to show that Macca was a really nice bloke who was always thinking of what he could do for others. He didn't have to do what he did for us but he did it because he was such a gentleman.

You were some man Macca and a fantastic football player.

    May you rest in peace.

RIP Alan McDonald. A sad day for QPR but more so his family and friends.

I am too young to remember him playing, but do remember him from his assistant manager role under Waddock. A true rangers legend.

I hope the club will arrange something fitting to remember him by. Such a young age. RIP.

All I can say is Macca you were one of us, a true R.

Players come and players go but Alan Mcdonald wasnt just a footballer who happened to play for Rangers, "he was Rangers".

A shocking loss at such a young age. I hope the club comes up with a fitting tribute for such a loyal and deserving servant of our great club.

    RIP, you wont be forgotten.
