Anthony Gardner moves from Palace to Wednesday, meaning Aaron Martin is one up the pecking order at Palace. Pretty safe to say he'll play plenty of football next seaason.

With all the transfer speculation. I can really see us trying to do this next season.

    Davis
    ? Fonte. Hoover. Fox
    Schneid Cork

    Lallana. Lambert. Babel
    Rodriguez

That looks like a cracking team to me and with players Like Butland, Dann, Guthrie, Clyne being linked they would all fit in perfectly.

Not to mention our other options in Sharp, Tadanari Lee, Chaplow, Guly and De Ridder!

    I'm getting quite excited.

Regardless of whether Babel would be a good signing or not, is there really any merit in a caughtoffside.com article containing largely waffle and some made up stuff about what Nigel wants to do? Can't see it personally.

What troubles me are the terms. What we talking, £40k a week? This is a guy who has been on big wages for a long time.

Reading have 'smashed' their wage structure for Pogrebnyak.

Hope we don't do the same, for one player!

That's definitely a potential deal breaker. If the lad wants to come back and prove himself in the prem he would take a wage cut and have motivation to succeed but money does talk.

I would be happy at £25k with an end of season incentive to go bag yourself 10 plus goals.

He's not everyones choice but I don't think he should written off as the type of player we do not want (whether the rumours are true or not)

I can understand next year breaking the wage structure, but bringing someone in this year on twice the amount as rickie or adam would really piss off alot of people

We've been talking about Babel for far too long. If he's been so poor at Hoffenheim, why do we want him? Someone say something interesting and new, or I start posting more videos of weird ****.

Just a point on wages that I have been thinking about. Nicola is a businessman first and foremost and runs the club as such. People are saying that we shouldn't break the wage structure for new signings and that it could piss off the likes of Lambert etc if we were to bring people in on a lot more than they are. The thing is that no matter how good they have been for us it has been at a lower level than we are now, if we were to bring someone that is an established performer at this level then they should be on more than someone that has yet to prove themselves at the higher level. It probably isn't fair on players that have done so well but Nicola is a businessman and in business you don't pay top dollar for someone you have just promoted compared to someone that has been doing well at that level for a sustained period. There would be a trial period and if succesfull the wages would go up and be comparible.

It works with the scholars, I am sure when they sign their profesional contract they are not suddenly on the same wages as Lambert etc so arguably they shouldn't be on the same wages as a quality top flight player if/when we sign one.

Lambert and co are on pretty decent wages, so I don't supposw majorly splashing the cash on wages to bring in the quality we want. There is probably a fair bit of incentive based pay too, so the players will hardly be short of a bob or two.

My understanding is that the first professional contracts start small and get bigger over time/games played.

65k a week. SIXTY-FIVE THOUSAND. PER WEEK. That's £13,520,000, discounting the fee received on signing for them. Mental.
