Think they're still in negotiations with him.

Falcao would be amazing but you're looking at a £50m+ bid I reckon seeing as Madrid paid something like £35m for him and he's been immense in Spain so value will have easily shot up.

yeah, i know its not realistic. But i'd still take him. We all would!

Did AVB have any targets while he was a chelsea? If he fits players into a system then conceivably we might have the same targets if he took over.

The gossip is we're poised to offer him......cheers not606,it's been nice knowing you. I'll stop watching Spurs if he's appointed and I'll stop the website. Please let it not be true.

come on Thor. Give him a chance at least. You love Spurs! Surely?
Remember Christian Gross? What about Gary Doherty? Gary Doherty playing up front! Jose Dominguez (actually, i quite liked that floppy-haired berk). Stuart Nethercott. Acimovic. Gerry Francis.

    I could go on.

Surely you supported Spurs through some absolute dross managers, dross players and dross playing styles such as Graham and Santini?

  5. As a fan, we cannot help but love our club, no matter how badly we perform, no matter how bad our luck, no matter what mistakes are made by our board, or how crap the manager is.

    We are Spurs.

    Bit OTT there Thor.

At least give him a chance if he is indeed appointed.

His Porto side were brilliant lets not forget. Maybe he just never had the right players (both mentally and technically) to his liking at Chelsea. With our type of players, none of them have big ego's and they all play with attacking intent which is what his Porto side were all about.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Spurs but I was one of the posters who said that he'd fail at Chelsea and I'm certain he'll fail with us. He's a cry baby who looks for excuses. I want what's best for us. Graham had us 3rd and a trophy at least spurfectionist. Ok a bit OTT but nooooooooo!

3rd? Under Graham? Did the boring football put me in a coma and cause me to miss that?
I don't remember us finishing in the top half from Klinsmann's first stint til Jol (about 10 years)

Ramos won us a trophy. He was NOT a success imo

    1995-6: 8th
    1996-7: 10th
    1999-2000: 10th
    2001-2: 9th
    2002-3: 10th

In retrospect, it looks like Gerry Francis did alright for us - finishing 10th with such a long injury list in 96-7 is pretty impressive, as plenty of managers past and present would've finished a lot lower.

Playing a 4-3-3 that can be morphed into a 3-4-3 is probably the wrong tactic for a lot of games, especially against teams that like to sit deep when we play them (and there's plenty who do that) as it plays into their hands. A 4-5-1 that morphs into a 4-3-3 is proven to work in the Premier League by numerous teams, but to do that we'd need to rejig the players we field. For example, Dos Santos would have to play instead of Lennon as he is most effective in 4-3-3 whilst Lennon is most effective in 4-4-2, plus we saw last season the negative effect of Parker, Modric and Sandro all playing at the same time had on Modric's ability to take time and pick out a pass.

Playing 4-2-3-1 makes sense, but that requires bringing in Ade or Remy because Defoe would fail in that system. Something like...
    ---Parker - Modric ---
    Lennon/Dos Santos - VDV - Bale
    ---Ade/Remy---

Jesus Christ. You're the worst type of fan.

Win away at Newcastle and he'll probably be the second coming of Christ.

I have no issues with you not wanting a manager (I don't want Moyes for example), but FFS support the badge, the shirt, the club!

I could have sworn we finished 3rd under Graham but I must be wrong.....sorry.
Thank you Spurslegend. I've been devoted to Spurs since Archibald and Crooks.

I apologise if i've just ruined a good Spurs "memory" for you :(

HBIC - talking of being top. Was it after 3 games, but before Man Utd played? If so, i think i cut the league table out of the paper as it was the first time i'd ever seen Spurs up there

No,of course I won't but I'm fearful of the result if we get him. If we do win at Newcastle it won't be such a surprise.

A well constructed argument as usual Ammaar, but looking at the positives the fact that Spurs already have the players to match his style could be crucial. It should make it easier for him to get a positive start and the starts managers make is often vital to their success. Good start and everyone grows in confidence, most importantly the players, then it all becomes easier.

Although it doesn't fill me full of confidence if he took players at Chelsea and asked them to do what they were not good at. You must use the players strengths that you have, that's basic. Having said that it was Chelsea and Abramovich and Lampard and all, not an easy task for any manager with his own agenda. Look what happened to Scolari and he was not without success before he arrived at Stamford Bridge.
